******Official War Thunder Thread*******

*slinks into thread*

You broke our PS4 Squadron, it auto changed our tag when cross play was enabled :( we're now [OcUK*].

I've gotten quite good at spotting the different type of PC players though. You can tell who's KB/Mouse and who's on a joy/flight stick. All cannon fodder anyway ;)

Yeah i'll believe that when I see it, game on boys.

Already asked in that thread for a sqn battle and noones interested, your tag needed changing!

Aye the take up on PS4 hasn't been great. Squadron is small and only a couple of active pilots. Think it's just too user unfriendly on PS4, doesn't really explain how to get into/play the game still.

pity that, maybe we should look into taking PS4 players winto our squad more, think we've got one just to see if it worked.

Would be nice to play with you guys if we could sort a 4v4 squad locally too :)

We have never had a problem with team killing :D

Some of my cannons are getting a bit cobwebby from dis-use. Things like my Mig-3-34 and D.520 could do with a static/unsuspecting/PS4 target to clean then out on :p

On a less murderous note, we're always open to new members so long as people get involved (Which means there's some people we need to kick for inactivity (Hint Hint admins)). You're very welcome to come squad with us.
What kind of battles do you prefer? How's your lineup looking?

Yeah I might mothball the PS4 squadron as it's not used and switch teams if that's alright. I'm on most nights for at least a few battles. Used to always finish top 1 or 2 on team pre cross-play, it's definitely got a bit more difficult now that PC players are in the games but I tend to be in/around top 5 most battles.

Tend to play arcade with the occasional realistic/tank game here and there.

Got full lineup of T3 GB planes and decent lineup of the higher BR T2 Russkis. Focusing on researching out the final mods on my Russkis and then need to decide if I go back to focusing on GB or push for T3 Russkis.

I've got both, and the game is skewed towards benefits to the Russian lineup. I recommend you stick to the Russkies if you want to get good lions. Its also best to bring everything up together at the same rate, as the gameplay methods change tier to tier due to increased power output from engines and guns.

So once you have your Soviets at the same lvl as your Brits, start thinking about working on your 'mercans, Germans or Japs. (Go Japs, get your H6K4 and upgrade his gunners, then come be our new best friend ;) We troll in them at a professional level :D )

Aye they were a good laugh some of those :)

Windle - I didn't spend ages checking out your planes lineup but it looked to me a bit like you'd done the common mistake of ending up with 1 high-tiered plane, and then the rest rapidly dropping in Battle Rating, meaning you'd end up in harder matches, but with not great planes once your first one dies.

I'd recommend avoiding that LA-5 for now, and work on unlocking other lower-tier Russian planes, as lots of them are pretty vicious. If you haven't already got them, unlock the IL-2, the Mig-3's and the YAK-7 and YAK1.

That should give you the option of having an even spread of Battle Rating across your lineup, meaning your matches should be more balanced.

From memory my line-up atm is AR2 (BR 2 I think but with 3x500lb bombs which do the business on bases) which is fully upgraded, IL-4 (just unlocked and bought so it's basic only) at BR 3.0, Lagg 3-35 (BR 2.3, MIG 3 (2.7) and the LA-5 (3.7).

Would it be best to drop the LA-5 and keep my max BR at 3.0?

I'd say yes. The matchmaking mechanism is (very!) complex, but in fairly simple terms it's meant to average out your 3 highest BR's and then put you into a match with only a max of 1.0 BR higher than what your lineup averages out to.

Your 3.7 + 3.0 + 2.7 should give you an average of 3.0 or 3.3 but due to the b0rked matchmaking you'll probably end up seeing some other players with up to 4.7 BR planes if you bring the LA-5 out. Not saying it can't take them on, but the problem comes when your LA-5 is down, and then you have to use lesser planes against someone who might have an all 4.7 lineup.

Research the IL-2, there's literally nothing to dislike about that plane. OK it's a little sluggish and not exactly fighter performance, but it's a flying tank packing a pair of murderous 23mm cannons and when you unlock them, rockets too! :D (plus it's 3.0 BR)

And buy the I-153 chaika, and the premium Zhukovski's chaika. We still use them in jet matches, because trolling.
Packed with their rockets they can annihilate anything in the air, and they are able to out-turn every other plane in the game, so you always have a way out if you get into trouble.
And, to back up what Matt said, an even spread is the best way to progress each country. Not rushing down one branch, which leaves you dead in the water against full-blooded, fully upgraded, cannon-wielding boom and zoomers who love noob clubbing.

...not that we would know anything about such behaviour... *looks away, whistling and twiddling thumbs*
