Get the ace pack, it gives you the most golden eagles. I think buying the eagles themselves works out at £32 worth, so for what you pay you get 10k eagles, 2 planes that you'd be best advised not to use just yet... plus 2 months premium account.

Bargain really! :D

Don't get too carried away spending eagles on premium planes straight away, some are fantastic, others less so. Also remember you'll want to spend *some* on opening up more pilot slots, and some on training pilots. The pilot benefits are really big early on, but then gradually costs more and more to increase, so around 200 eagles per pilot slot is well worth spending... after that, it becomes more costly.

The updater crashed halfway through patching and now it gets exception errors while trying to verify files and resume.

Looks like a full re-install for me :(:eek:

Edit: Might be ok without re-installing. I clicked the 'Verify integrity of gmae cache' option in Steam proprties and that fixed 12 files, which in turn allowed the War Thunder patcher to verify and replace corrupt files. Download has resumed :).

few update details for anyone who hasn't seen them yet....

The long expected Update - 1.37 - will bring several significant changes to the game, such as:


• A completely different progression system. All vehicles are divided into 5 ranks instead of 20, to get a new aircraft a player will have to research a previous one, researching the desired vehicle has become faster.


• New render with the support of DirectX 11, improving graphics quality and performance up to 25% (on some video cards).


• Many of new planes have been added, such as the Soviet fighters the I-185 and the La-9, the American P-400. The German Bf 109 F-1 and Bf 109 F-2, The Hs. 129B-3 attacker with an incredible 75 mm cannon, the series of Japanese Ki-84 fighters and others.


• New “Custom Battles”. Now the battles are hosted on a dedicated War Thunder server and not on the player’s side. This will provide ease of use and a high quality connection for online tournaments, clanmates and for all those who play custom battles.


• The mission editor is now added to “test flight” mode and you can test any desired aircraft in different situations, choose the scenario of a battle, the weather and the number and power of your opponents.


• More than 70 aircraft have their Flight and Damage models tuned to fully meet the historically accurate data. Please refer to our forums for the full list and current flight models state report.


• 8 new maps added for different modes

War Thunder game servers will be temporarily disabled for troubleshooting of the new update 1.37. All Premium accounts, active by the start of maintenance, will be extended for 24 hours. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience!

Why do we have this situation? We have planned complete restructuring of gaming servers, which should be performed in the same period of time with the update 1.37. Something went wrong and at the moment we are investigating possible causes of these problems.

EDIT: Been trying to download the update due to high numbers of people downloading at the same time. My downloads slowed down dramatically

I've managed to patch and the game is seriously screwed at the moment. I am level 3, played ~ 20 matches and I'm being put up against level 54 pilots :-\ The new research mechanics are going to take some getting used to as well!

How is a Mk1 Spitfire supposed to hold it's ground against a top-level plane in any category...
 
downloading update now, i will be in game shorly maybe 1h 30min
bloody 2mb is crapppppppppp cant wait for fibre, which i should be getting soon hopefully
 
Will download the update tonight, hogs our internet connection here and it is not overly quick so don't want to steal the net from me dad.

Looking through the patch notes, I am so upset that yet again the Mosquito has not had anything done to it with regards to the flight model. I might make a pilgrimage to Gaijin HQ and beg.

They sure do need a slap for that! :(

Glad I bought every plane I'd unlocked before this research-fest hit. Not convinced of the benefit to it.

Also, what's the point in having 1.2 million "free" research points, if it costs me real money to actually use them? Not very flipping free is it?? :mad:
