ONM - MarioKart Wii Review

God knows what Nintendo are doing this generation regarding stock for wii games every big title (or some smaller ones) are the same.

Mario Galaxy & Mario & Sonic Olympics were both like hens teeth at christmas. Mario & Sonic is only just in plentiful supply now! (no doubt will be impossible to find come August again)

Try finding Links crossbow training anywhere reckon they only made about 10 copies!

Wii Play is still hard to get hold of 18 months after release!

Now Mario Kart, Wii fit will be rarer than rocking horse **** for the next 12 months as well no doubt.
 
Even now, I don't think Nintendo have actually caught up with the Wii's popularity. They've always been cautious with the amount of software they actually print, and just can't seem to get it right.

Although it does seem ridiculous that even now they're struggling with demand of "dumb" peripherals and software.
 
All the pirates had this game at 2AM this morning so plenty of opinions should be flooding in.

Snaking is neutered but definitely still in, from reading around ;)
 
From my experiences Edge hasn't put a foot wrong in ratings compared to what I think of games, but I'm certain to give this a go first. Was very suprised reading E188 that it only got 6/10. Couple of mates are sure to get it and I'll pop round
 
Was going to get this on release but now I think I'll hold off for a while. DD was a stinker imo and now that some places are giving this wobbly feedback. Its a real shame.
 
I havn't pre-ordered but i'm gonna head into tesco at 8am on my way to uni friday morning. Might get lucky :)
 
I like it. Granted its not that far from the tree but its still a perfect arcade kart game. New levels all seem good and there is plenty of stuff to unlock. Online is by far the best integration I have seen from nintendo.

Reading around this is far less liek the superb MKDS and far more like MKDD, over simplified and item based.

For those who have it is online working?

Managed to Pre-Order a copy of this today at my local highstreet store. With this, Pro Evo and Super Smash Bros should keep Wii owners busy.

They highly rated Mario Kart DS, and rightly so. Double Dash was crap.

I must admit i've been put off by their Mk Wii review - it seems as though the transformation from the tight kart racing to super accessible party gaming is finally complete. You only have to look at screenshots to see how ridiculously wide the courses are.

So, Mario Party with karts?
 
MK Wii is purely item based now, at least until alternative snaking style techniques are discovered (and they definitely will be discovered :) ).

SNES and DS mariokarts are by far and away the best versions as they required the most skill rather than dumb luck, and reviews support this.
