PC and Console fan boys, Whats the deal ?

Why are people talking about specs? They're not important to the majority of people.

It's mostly a question of the games themselves (which is why I think you need a PC and the consoles, or you miss out).

This is because the majority of people don't actually understand specs, which gives rise to situations like the OP's, where some ignorant fool believes the rubbish they coming out with, like the good old one of consoles being visually superior to PCs in multiplatform titles.

It's only really sensible people that understand that it's about going to where the games you want to play are located. Which is why I have a PC, PS3, PS4, a PS Vita, a 3DS, and a Wii U.

I wish i could convey sarcasm on the internet lol

The thing is though, there actually is an element of truth, which I expect is due to the greater market presence of the companies listed. It makes it more likely for foolish ignorant newbies to be suckered in by the marketing, which leads to them regurgitating marketing speak, convinced that it's actually their own opinion.

So, which is worse, being a fanboi or a techie hipster?

Or are they the same damn thing?? :p

Some sage advice for you folk reading this thread and starting to twitch with rage.....

Live and let live.
Horses for courses.
To each their own.
....first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye

etc etc :p

So I've noticed as of late there's a growing trend of console owners making all sorts of amazing claims about what their little boxes can do and often console owners start screaming at PC owners and not just on forums but actually face to face.

I've actually seen this when a GAME employee was informing a guy of which platform to get a particular game because he was asked "which platform do you think this game is graphically better on", Naturally the employee said the PC and the person in favour of the console literally started shouting at the guy, Was very embarrassing to witness.

Why is this a growing trend among console fans that they feel the need to do this ?

I'm about to buy an XB1 for the Halo series as I'm a big fan but would never start a screaming match over a game because for 1 I'm an adult and 2 it's pretty pathetic.

Thoughts ?

Growing trend? Its never been any different going all the way back to the Spectrum and C64.

I agree with you, i did say it with a hint of truth. I can speak from experience as i started out with AMD CPUs and the intel guys would say this and that just be fanboys, i thought AMDs were great and i still do for the pricepoint, ran all my games etc etc. I got Intel eventually just because i could afford it and turns out its not a life changer, they're A LOT better to bench with though :D. I know whats up with Nvidia though and im not getting Nv cards any time soon

All in all, you dont usually see people who buy products from "lesser" companies be as loud mouthed as people who own products from the bigger ones. Like Nvidia, Intel, Apple etc etc.

I've had the privilege to sample both sides of gaming and to be honest I would side with console gaming for the sheer convenience factor, but this is simply my opinion. At the very same time I appreciate the benefits to PC gaming too.

As for the arguments it creates, well, I find anyone who knocks or tries to belittle someone else’s brand choice to be small minded and petty. It’s a childish response as far as I’m concerned.

I favour BMWs over Mercs, Sony over Microsoft and iOS over Android but I’ll be damned if I don’t give the others a fair shot and appreciate their qualities. I love to sample all different types of technology and the notion of pigeon holing myself with one brand would be very narrow minded of me. It would also ultimately mean I don’t get to enjoy different tech advancements etc until they eventually release on my chosen platform.

As for the OP, your very first line feels like you’re trying to start an argument.

I think its probably more to do with the fact that these new consoles were hyped up no end - 4k, 60fps etc etc.. and what you have are two systems barely able to push 1080p let alone a stable 60fps.

A pc of equal worth can pull much better numbers as has been proven in multiple articles , so they cant even use the 'but pcs cost 10x more argument anymore' EVEN more so when the new GPU chipsets are giving ridiculous results for low cost.

generally console owners have been shafted and putting their anger onto the pc market. I know this gen took nearly 10 years to get to for console games - but I actually think they ended up rushing these consoles out big time, they are not refined at all, especially the UIs and really lacking in actual grunt.

Really? Which one of the manufacturers hyped up their ability to be 4K?

Console gamers have been shafted? How exactly? I think you need to wake up and smell the fanboy **** your shoveling.

Would you demonstrate (with components from OcUK if you wish) a PC build for £349.99, not including a monitor as we wont involve TV prices for the console, that would pull much better numbers than the PS4, don't skimp on an OS either.

I love all platforms :D

I have a high end system and have owned/had prolonged use of nearly all of the console releases. With the only platform ive not managed to touch much on is the Wii u and Nintendo handhelds.

Do i enjoy playing on the pc Yes i love it how buttery smooth it is but this comes at a cost and what can be a lot of hassle when something goes wrong. As you all know the pc can be out of action for a long time just for the matter of something updated and broke everything ( funny a little like the ps4 2.0 update at the moment having issues )

Do i enjoy playing on ps4 Hell yea destiny is amazing, The last of us is the best thing to happen in gaming in the last 10 years IMO It's simple i turn it on and play at GOOD quality and frame rate - is it as smooth or good looking as the pc? no you all know this and anyone who fanboys ps4 and says it looks better. be honest with yourself only in dier situations would that happen and only if ( and i hope it does not ) the console industry pressures pc developers to do silly things like there starting to do, lock at 30fps lock at 720p ect this is not moving forward for the industry this is taking seven steps back. All because people fanboy

chatting between gamers would be much better if it didn't go : what platform do you play on, xbox? ha xbox is ****

Why can't it be more like oh you play on xbox? cool i like this feature and wish i had one for certain exclusives ect instead of the extremely hostile its better because i own one attitude. I guarantee they would fanboy the other side if that's what they got for xmas or whatever :D

How many console owners have a 4k TV at the moment? Less than 1% I bet? Would a lack of 4k suddenly make console exclusives less good? Doubtful.

I doubt most people would be bothered by relatively minor fps differences either.
