PC vs Console, has high GPU prices played a part?

 Someone does not even know what 4K resolution is. 4K is 3840x 2160 :D I also set the game to its preset max settings (4K Ray Tracing Ultra). Even if running at the max resolution of the PS5 for this game (1080p) , a PC would get well over 120fps at the games max preset settings (Ray Tracing Ultra). That's how the devs made the game, probably not the best way to make Cyberpunk2077.

A PS5 is inferior to a PC in terms of raw power, only a fool would argue otherwise.

You complain about the price of a PC, did you expect a High End Gaming PC to be cheaper than a PS5:cry: A PC can do a tonne more things than a gaming console.Gaming is just one of those things it can do. So having a higher price is totally reasonable. PS5 games are not cheap, some cost £100.

The problem with pricing is that it became inflated because of Scalpers, Chip shortages, miners,....so PC GPUs have become so expensive...

But without all the scalping, £1,300 could get you a PC with an RTX 3080 and £460 could get you a PS5 . I don't see how that's 6 times more expensive?
Even if you spend £2K on a PC in this climate PS5s are easily selling for £750 so how is that 6 times the price

Does your brain work okay dude?

Spend a minute reading all my posts in this thread. You and poneros keep waffling on about pcs being more powerful. No one in this entire thread had said a PS5 is more powerful than a gaming pc. You keep talking about 3090 spec pcs. So that's where 6x more expensive comes from (£1400 gpu plus a grands worth of additional...I'll take 5x or a touch less if you want to insist on a cheaper spec)

You just seem to keep saying the obvious and arguing against some kind of imaginary viewpoint that no one has expressed.

Let me just get the straight. You seem to keep saying it..

A £1300 pc is more powerful than a £450 console...
A £1400 gpu is more powerful than a £450 console...
A PERSONAL COMPUTER can do more than a GAMES CONSOLE.

Some really amazing revelations from you sarge.

Here's some.

The sun is hot.
Rain is wet.
Grass is green.

Herp derp.

Why do people keep bringing cyberpunk on consoles when literally no one mentioned it? Sony took the game from psn store due to it being so bad. Literally no one here is defending the console version. All I said is a 3090 can NOT max the game on 4k resolution including Ray tracing on a PC, sarge then posted some screenshots with DLSS on performance mode on empty parts of the map or inside a car, I guarantee you, I challenge you to post a video of the game fully maxed on downtown with ray tracing on and not absolutely dipping under 60fps.

Don't be acting like most people here don't have pcs on the first place, people here are not console fanboys, I have a pc next to my console and use them both a equal amount of time, I am aware of both platforms limitations and advantages.

1300 could get you a pc with a 3080? I challenge you to link me any prebuilt pc with a 3080 with that budget. Certainly not from OCUK. 1300 will barely get you the GPU on its own let alone a full system.

@Hedge Sure, High GPU prices are not good for PC gamers.

But back on topic, these new consoles (PS5 and XBOX Series) were so difficult to get , mainly the PS5. The PS5 put the S in "Scalped". People were just buying them to directly list on the bay for hundreds more.

The PS5 was so popular, it was released near Christmas, it was affordable at like £450 msrp , it was a new console, people wanted to go and buy it anyway, FOMO.

I reckon that's why the majority of PC gamers who already had a PC decided to get one, despite the consoles flaws.

Tbh, from the record sales of GPUs and the high profits from NVIDIA and AMD (even Intel want in now), I don't think High GPU prices made PC gamers go out in herds to buy PS5s. As they sold well and both consoles and GPU are scalped.

Don't forget that there are a huge amount of PC gamers that are pirates and get games and stuff for free.

Why is this thread about cyberpunk and next gen consoles. There is no next gen version of the game only previous gen which could run on the ps5/series x. The new gen game does not arrive until next year so comparing that game is useless. We know PC has more powerful hardware but you will pay stupid amounts to get it these days. Any how straight from CDPR.

Because Sarge ran out of arguments so out of the thousand of games on the consoles managed to pick the one that even Sony banned from their Store due to it being so bad and performing so horribly.

Which is the trend lately due to PC becoming the main platform even among traditional console game developers. Guardians of the Galaxy on ps5 runs at 1080p 60fps which is on par with a GTX 1060  due to poor optimization.

Even Japanese developers are now prioritizing PC which would be something unthinkable 10 years ago. Mature gamers game on PC and kids game on tablets and phones. Where do consoles fit in all of this? Absolutely nowhere.

One top Japanese game publisher has found players who used to buy PlayStation versions of its games are now gradually shifting to purchasing the PC edition, said an executive who asked not to be named. PlayStation 5 games have so far failed to make an impact on Japanese sales charts, which are dominated by Nintendo’s Switch platform, data from market tracker Famitsu show.

Capcom's COO says the company wants to make PC its main platform for games, according to a translated report from Japanese outlet Nikkei, and reiterated by Bloomberg reporter Takashi Mochizuki.

Have you actually seen the marvel game running on a 1060 maxed @1080p?
Not that I am defending the ****** performance of this game.

Yeah, more games have been released on pc but when you have companies like the one you mentioned (capcom) not even bothering to update some of their games on pc (devil may cry V never got ray tracing update on pc) it's hard to believe them, Monster hunter Rise is a good start though, I am all for it.
The whole thing about mature gamers being on pc made me laugh, you clearly never played any online games lately like LoL, CS GO, R6 Siege , COD, (insert almost any online game name here), not that I find it any better on the consoles mind you, I just found what you said cringy.

Absolutely, unthinkable, but sounds off the alarm bells for consoles, as they were the priority in gaming for years! Even Crytek prioritised consoles over the PC platform 10 years ago. As a PC company, they initally made Crysis the PC exclusive, then committed to consoles and released the sequels Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 on consoles 10 years ago because of that priority. There were some unhappy gamer complaints as Crytek was seen to have reduced the graphics to run on inferior console hardware, even the PC versions no longer looked like a leap forward as Crysis (2007 ) did. Crytek even went as far as releasing a game called Ryse on XBOX first, before it was badly ported to PC.

If Sony begins releasing its current exclusives on PC without botching the PC ports, that would be good news for PC gamers and maybe more money for them, but console owners might get upset when their consoles no longer have exclusive perks. The consoles hardware weakness would be exposed proper. If the ports are bad, it might make people not buy the games.

I wouldn't think it sounds off alarm bells for consoles. You're kinda dramatising a little here.

What's interesting is how you talk about consoles having hardware weaknesses yet ignore the fact that outside of enthusiast communities a lot of pc hardware is actually below that of a current gen console.

Let's not assume everyone is rocking an Rtx 3090 please.

Will be good to have games on all platforms. Strangely enough I don't think many "console owners" would notice, let alone care if their game was on a pc too.

Oh and the reason we will start seeing more console games on pc is not because developers have suddenly thought wow the pc market is amazing I need some of that. Its more because consoles are more similar to pcs than ever and the work involved in porting them will be way less laborious.

As I've said, the video you've linked is the least CPU intensive location in the game lmao. 3700x dropping hard below 50s in many other situations. a minimum of 10900k/5800x is required to hold 60 fps %1 lows

No, that's not what I was talking about at all, I'm not after pointing out that the sky is blue. Problem is when you get lost in your feelings your reading comprehension tanks. Nothing to do with me.

Interesting how you managed to find every post for PC users with issues but haven't managed to find the dozens of posts for consoles crashing, which have also filled the sub and other forums.

Maybe just admit that the game didn't launch in a great state on any platform (as is BF tradition).

Yeah, battlefield looks a mess right now, feels it's not even using my 3090 properly, GPU usage way lower than it should be, using a 5800x with it and it's usage it's also lower than it used to be on old battlefield V, don't expect it to be any good on any platform soon, ironically enough Dice used to be 100% a pc developer, I remember battlefield 3 even smaller maps and shorter player count on pc, bad company was a weird one back then but the second one ended up having a far superior version on consoles as well.
Xbox and PS5 actually feel they are punching way above their weight on battlefield 2042 since they can stupidly close to 60Fps almost all the time @native 4k but there is definitely something weird going right now with the pc version which I hope it gets fixed since it was the only game I had pre ordered this year (I never learn my lesson with Dice games)

Uh, they fit rather nicely into that massively popular area of the market in-between who aren't easily amused by phone games and won't spend £700 on a mid-range GPU..

People have a better impression of these consoles' capabilities simply because the stats are hidden

It's almost as if the stats don't directly impact the actual experience and enjoyment of a game. If you need a graph on screen to tell you there are performance dips, it's probably not worth worrying about. When they become noticeable to the naked eye is when there's a problem.

The problem with pricing is that it became inflated because of Scalpers, Chip shortages, miners,....so PC GPUs have become so expensive...

That is the entire point of this thread! Scalpers and supply issues are affecting a lot of things but the difference is, you can buy a PS5 for the intended price from a retailer, whereas GPUs and other components seem to be almost impossible to get at those prices. I've been looking to upgrade my GTX 1060 almost since the pandemic began but I'm simply not paying massively inflated prices for a mid-range card. I'm certainly not the only one either.

Botching the PC ports, this has been done so many times and gamers hate it. But these companies do it because people pre-order the game , so they get their money, they might patch it later, to fix it.

@NZXT30 maybe with game priority changing to PC ports might improve.

At the start of this crazy situation. I first found that the PS5s were Scalped the most, costing £750 , so I picked up a 3080 AIB for £690 or so (near enough msrp). Then scalping got worse as Nvidia and AIBs joined in , so prices are crazy.

Both the PS5 and PC are scalped, but you post as if PS5s are not scalped. £600 for a digital PS5, that's madness!

Also there is no retailer in the UK that currently has a PS5 for sale online at msrp. You'd have to get a PS5 in a drop at msrp.

Screenshot-20211114-134403-e-Bay.jpg

Unfortunately, consoles were are the front of the scalping. Then GPUs followed as they also wanted in.

GTA 3: The Definitive Edition on ps5 dipping down to 35 fps, next gen console gaming at its finest

That's also on performance mode with lower settings and resolution: https://youtu.be/Ku0Qxl3JxbI?t=76

Yet games that were actually designed for the ps5 can play 1440p 120fps or 4k 60fps. All i see in here is crap posting from people that most likely have not even got one. Luckily i have one and the experience has been really good. You know the spec of the ps5 compared to a PC so if its struggling in games that it shouldn't be then its more likely the game coding and not the hardware. Any how i enjoy having the best of both worlds which makes more sense to me than missing out.

There is not a single ps5 game at 1440p 120fps or 4k 60 fps. Yes we can directly compare next gen consoles to PCs this time due to their hardware and so far there hasn't been a game where consoles have outperformed a similarly specced PC.

Anyway, I'm one of the few people in this thread that made an on-topic post : https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...s-played-a-part.18940511/page-3#post-35206684 before the usual bitter pc gamers that can't get a graphics card and console fanboys turned it into a pc vs next gen consoles thread.

F1 2021 does but the main reason more games don't is because Sony does not support 1440p just 1080 and 4k. Far more on the Xbox series X do as that has support. It will be coming soon enough to the Ps5.

https://gamingbolt.com/f1-2021-will-run-at-4k-60-fps-or-1440p-120-fps-on-ps5-and-xbox-series-x

Here is a list of games that support 120fps on Xbox series x and you can see plenty do 1440p and above.
