Philips 20" 200W6CS Widescreen TFT LCD

Shouldn't think you need to since if you select Native, it'll adjust to whatever the res the graphic card is outputting (even ingame). So, put the monitor's menu option to Native, in windows environment it'll go full screen at 1680x1050, and in a 1280x1024 game, it should adjust to that res without pressing any buttons on the monitor. It'll display the the resolution it is receiving.

That's my logic anyway, Not tried it yet, could do tomorrow,

Because it's not, I think what you experienced was them getting the specs wrong... again.

They've already proved that they're not amazingly knowledgeable about their own screens, there's no reason to think other than that they were once again getting confused between the older and newer panels.

Well that may well be the case.

Just to clarify though - I stated in an email that we understood that the 16ms version of the screen was an IPS version, but I asked what the new 8ms used. I was told IPS, and this is the customer service people asking the tech dept.

I give up, it seems people are happy with it so that's the main thing.

Well thanks to those pictures I am in indecision mode

I thought that the finish of the Philips screen was quite naf going by the OCUK pics but now i have seen it up close i can see its a nice metal finish (is it actually metal or a grey plastic??). I am now trying to decide if i should just bite the bullet and get one of these or wait for the new screens to come out.

AHHHH its soooo hard waiting.

that makes me have even more questions.

I've given up now and I'm just looking forward to getting my screen :)

fantastic :) thanks for that link Tom. That is an update of the panel listed here which is on the official site. That was the one used in the Dell 2005FPW and old Philips 200W6CS version (16ms edition). Hopefully they have actually done something to improve responsiveness in real use and not just on paper. Maybe they have started to use overdrive, would be interesting to see a THG review of the latency on the new 8ms panel

welcome to OcUK too!

Cool pic's how big is that screen next to it?

Now the real question is how can you be sure that you'll get the 8ms version.

Well OcUk have confirmed that they stock the 8ms version.

Raymond - It's arrived, but I'm not at home yet :(

On that page, the specs were blanked.. ?
So its a newer fast IPS panel is it ? Sounds pretty cool.

I was really wanting a 19" Xerox, but after the clart on with them, I think I'll avoid their 20" widescreens when they come out. This philips job is definitely the top of potential buy list soo far.

Why dont more companies put glass fronts on TFT's anyway.. I always worry these flimsy surfaces will get damaged too easily while trying to clean it..
