Pico 4 out soon?

Think so, I can't find any settings for it. You literally just hold the record button in. Hopefully they add some features to it, as the quality is dreadful.

The more I read on this thread, the more I think I'm going to stick with the Q2. A lot of these issues should've been ironed out before release to make it a direct Q2 competitor or beater, but it seems they're still playing catchup with some of the features. Okay the Q2 only got 1980x1020 recording last month, but I would've thought Pico would be all over this stuff on release to make it an easy choice to upgrade. Long live my Quest.

They've probably only got two developers lol still, you can't grumble for £379

if you were thinking of buying one of these, may i suggest you get from the rain forest and return it within the allocated time ?

Try 100mb bitrate, reduces latency 5-10ms

and Increase Video Nominal Range - On (I think it looks really good, poor mans OLED lol)

and if you can stretch to ultra (depending on game) give it a go. Just found out that removing FXAA in iRacing makes it look much better. Bloody PC gaming, too many settings!
Thanks mate, will give that a try tomo. First VR headset and after about 15 mins on Bone Labs I felt a little sick so I thought I'd stop for the night, plus I only had 15% charge lol.

So with my current router and setup and your first settings, I seem to be getting 40MS latency which I don't think it too bad. I did stick Bone Labs to ultra in game and dropped to 40-50 FPS, not sure if that's to be expected, I changed some settings to medium I think and it jumped up to 80. Was a great experience.

Still trying to find the sweet spot, there are spots that if I look at do appear blurry but I've been adjusting it and it's getting better each time, I think lol.

OK, have been playing with mine for several hours now.
Coming from an Oculus Rift S, and have no experience with either Quest, or the HP G2. At present, I'm using a Virgin 5Ghz wifi5 router.

Thoughts/experiences so far:
- Don't do what I did and buying Virtual Desktop on Steam. It needs to be purchased on the Pico store. Unfortunately, I realised this too late to refund to Steam
- The VR lens inserts are magnetically held in, unlike the old Rift versions, which makes it MUCH easier to take them out for cleaning and similar. Thumbs up for that
- Yep, it's light and the FOV is better when compared to the Rift S. Can't say I find it that comfortable, as the facial interface is rather unforgiving. Let's say that "it could be improved"
- Managed to get both wifi and Wired (USB cable) working using the free Pico "Streaming Assistant" App (available on their website)
- Also used Virtual Desktop, as installed directly onto the headset
- Tested out the visuals in Blade and Sorcery, Elite and DCS

Using the Streaming Assistant visual quality was similar for both, i.e. a little better than the Rift S, but frankly no great shakes.
Additionally, the latency was bouncing around all over the place with wireless, whilst the USB connection maintained a VERY steady 80ms, and also a good and consistent frame rate

Moving to VD, with basically the settings mentioned on the previous page (e.g. 150Mbps bandwidth), and the visuals were MUCH improved, though the frame rate was heavily hit and the latency was a little inconsistent (better than the Streaming assistant, but certainly NOT on par with cabled).

Just tried running DCS with FSR enabled. Yes, it worked, and improved the frame rate by around 20%. However, also made the visuals rather messy. VD clearly does a much better job. Another thing I found was to reduce the render quality. Despite running a 3080ti, with DCS, had to resort to "medium". All the same, that did work and ran smoothly and still looked fine, certainly better than the Rift S ever did.

What I was unsure about was why I couldn't get OpenXR Composite for WMR running, or the "Mixed Reality Portal". Anyone got some good suggestions.

Overall, it has a lot of promise, but feels unfinished. e.g. why are the streaming limitations so low via VD and the Streaming Assistant. The USB connection "should" be able to support upto 10Gbps, so why does it appear to be capped at 120Mbps?

If VD could be enhanced to support USB connections, they'd be onto a winner.

Is 80ms bad for a wired USB connection?
I also have a virgin media router next to my PC, but I am stuck between buying a Q2 or pico 4.

I don't mind using a cable but having the wireless option is also great.

Sorry Shi, but you've already stated that a standard battery pack makes it uncomfortable, and you need to buy a new facial interface. What makes it more comfy?

Sorry, I meant, with the Q2 I'm constantly adjusting it, put a battery pack on the back I'm still pulling it down at the back , tried so many straps.

But on the pico 4, I can put this on and leave it, no need to re adjust

The quest 2, would go wonky to one side, it would nearly pull my glasses off, it's never straight. It's too heavy

Pico 4 is nicely balanced full stop

I think I'm going to keep it, it's not perfect but it's good enough to tide me over until the deckard arrives (which is the one I really want more than anything).

I really like it too, just not sure with all the optional extras like the charging dock, extra batteries, router (although my current one is doing 40ms with VD) if it would be worth getting a g2 or sticking with this.

Pre-ordered mine on Amazon a while ago and it should have arrived yesterday but it appears to have gone missing. I'm so annoyed. It didn't turn up and then i got the dreaded "On the way, but it's running late" status. Tracking shows no movement since Monday.
