I'd imagine they will want to keep bluray support but like u say, all comes down to cost.

Because the new consoles are heavily based on the current pc tech. So they are a lot closer linked this time around.
 
PS4 HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED!

Now Before you lot get your knickers in a twist, I love PC, and console, reason why Im excited is that in general the graphics for games will be much better, and this "console" is more of a PC.

What are your thoughts, plus they announced a new killzone and the gameplay trailer looks better then intercourse.


EDIT: Sony has said this is not a console, its more of a ENHANCED PC, i mean they got 8GB Of ram compared to 512mb on the PS3

Because they like to pretend it's all the consoles fault and not the lazy and/or underfunded developers.

It's interesting to see what hardware they are running as realistically most games will only be designed to make full use of the consoles specs due to production costs.

I'm hoping that with this generation having closer architecture we'll not only see more time / money spent on the actual game rather than porting it to multiple formats but also more cross platform connectivity.

No mention of bluray or 4k playback, lots of stuff missing, lots of interesting stuff mentioned. Looking farword to e3.

Was wondering, the GPU will have to be pretty beefy to be able to utilise 8GB (or 6GB+) of GDDR5? For example a 9500GT 2GB is a bit of a joke as it cant utilise the 2GB.

They aren't running Windows though which makes the whole comparison pointless. The hardware will be customised in some way too, Sony aren't just filling up a basket at Overclockers and checking out. :p

Not saying the Pc is better although this time the consoles are starting at where the Pc has been for the last year. They are starting at a disadvantage this time.

The new consoles will be superb but I can see the Pc gaining huge popularity of the back of the consoles using hardware based on the Pc's.

I'm not sure if this is a bad thing or good, I do not hate consoles and have them all and will be buying these at some point.
 
I'm sure I'm not the only one bored of the pc comments already, yeah we understand now go back to your section!

my main hope is that the vita crossplay feature is possible in most games if not all but I can see it being something that only a select few games will support

also interesting was no talk (that I heard) of 4k neither gaming or bluray upscaling.
 
Not saying PCs are better than consoles. Just that PC is capable of much better graphics than we have at the minute and the only way we are going to get that is by next-gen consoles being released.
