Playstation 4 being announced February 20th?

It's interesting to see what hardware they are running as realistically most games will only be designed to make full use of the consoles specs due to production costs.

I'm hoping that with this generation having closer architecture we'll not only see more time / money spent on the actual game rather than porting it to multiple formats but also more cross platform connectivity.

I think its reasons other than production costs too.

Niether of this is really what i was getting at anyway,

Why do people come in to the console section, into a thread regarding next gen consoles, only to say the pc is better, holding back the pc, consoles suck, etc etc?

Wondering the same thing myself, I'm really looking forward to this gen of console.
I really liked the announcement just enough info to get my interest peaked and want to find out more.

Not saying the Pc is better although this time the consoles are starting at where the Pc has been for the last year. They are starting at a disadvantage this time.

The new consoles will be superb but I can see the Pc gaining huge popularity of the back of the consoles using hardware based on the Pc's.

I'm not sure if this is a bad thing or good, I do not hate consoles and have them all and will be buying these at some point.

This is custom hardware within a fixed platform. The two are not comparable. The performance console developers will squeeze out of the 7870 will be significantly greater than any current top end single card and will bare little relevance in what you will get out of your PC hardware.

Lets not bicker as we know what this place will be like over the next few months!

The way I see it is that Im not much more informed about the PS4 than I was before, the rumours seemed to be accurate (hard to see it any other way) so I guess it makes me wonder about the next Xbox and the rumours we have read already. I also wonder where there are differences in the rumours, were they wrong or have Sony actually managed to change the spec over the last few months, perhaps that could be the reasoning for not actually having a tangible box, I dont believe that tbh, but...

Im far more disappointed by the structure of the presentation, where detail was needed (specs for example) it was glossed over and where we didnt need detail it was nerdly presented (U4 tech demo). I dont think they got their point across about the creativity possible with the PS4 and at times it was confusing what was abstract ideas and what was indeed 'hardcore' gaming. I think I would have been more convinced if they just showed first party stuff and left the multiplats stuff for E3, ultimately this next generation it looks like thats gonna be the main difference...

Still not convinced by the new controller, I think its hit the middling point where its not gone far enough for some or where its been changed for the worse for others. It just looks like a poor compromise.

Yesterday I said I was looking forward to how this related to MS, today I just feel the same, E3s gonna be a bit of a warzone...

ps3ud0

But they are that is the whole reason they have used current pc tech in both consoles and not a custom setup using something like the cell.

The games will be easily created on the pc and ported over to the consoles. I was trying to say I'm not sure how much of a good thing this is ?

Just got back from work. Has sony shown the actual physical console ?

Googling playstation 4 seems to be just coming wuth controller images and concept designs. Nothing more

It's a shame they did not show anything from Polyphony as a GT game using the tech available in PS4 is going to be pretty stunning. As long as they fix the menu system.

I just had a look at that pcgamer article.

The guy actually said "ps4 will have 8gb ddr5, but thats overkill, I'll put in ddr3."

Good job of defying the point of building a rig of same spec. I think it may have just been thrown together for site traffic if im honest
