Playstation 4 being announced February 20th?

So let me get this straight Sony had a pressed that lasted several hours about the ps4 in which they showed a handful of games, a controller and guideline system specs?

Where was the big ea/dice announcement? They didn't give launch dates/pricing info? Or even show us the console?

When is ms presser expected?

Diablo 3 on ps4 could be interesting

From what I have caught up with this morning it looks like I made the right choice getting an early night, I guess E3 will be the big reveal.

Looks 'OK' but most of this stuff was already leaked so no real surprises yet.

This is probably the funniest and most pathetic post in this thread. Obvious fan boy is obvious.

To be fair they are predicted to have sold the least consoles and considering they had a year head start on Sony, and considering they had an established online system already in place it is a pretty good comeback from Sony if the forecast is correct.

Sony have ended the current generation strongly and judging from the presentation they aren't resting on their laurels, it'll be interesting to see what Microsoft unveil, it's a good time to be a gamer regardless.

Didn't really bother stopping up for this... Although I saw a late 2013 release, which is earlier than I thought...

What are the specs like?

8GB of GDDR5 was the shock moment for me.

Seemed like a late switch to this as the presenter said "I'm proud to announce that.....8gb of memory"

Sony couldn't let the 720 spec sheet have double over the PS4 for anything. Imagine how that would have looked

PS4 - 4GB
720 - 8GB

You think Microsoft will have 8GB DDR5 too?

8GB of memory is amazing for developers, seems like they're really trying to get them all onboard this time, working with them closely, asking them what they need.

For the PS3 all they did was say "here's the platform, now learn how to develop games for it"

Didn't watch last night so I've only read a few things but it all looks good so far. Diablo 3... really who cares. It was rubbish on PC and I can't imagine it's going to be better with a controller.

Are there any negatives to the announcement that I've missed? (other than them not actually showing the thing or prices or anything!)

I was pretty impressed with some of the features, looks a good deal getting Gaikai on board and working on all the net based functionality eg ability to record video whilst playing, upload it in the background etc. Ability to jump into other people's games, share functionality blah blah.. All of it will give them a massive online presence. Expect your facebook feed to be spammed by all PS4 owners sharing video :p

Some of the graphics looked SICK but it would have been nice to know a bit more about the system specs or seen the console itself, but never mind.

You think Microsoft will have 7GB DDR5 too?

Im sure Microsoft will use unified memory as well, you really dont need different sources of memory in a console.

Without an o/s and all the add on apps, less requirement for masses of memory so I would guess 8Gb is the optimum now, they could go for 16Gb but I just cant see the point currently.

(remember the ps3 I think only had 256mb of ram, so even raising to 8GB is a gigantic increase)

Any idea if PS4 will have party or group chat?

Sick of multiplayer games and having to mute all the clowns!

They never went into those details but mentioned better communication etc. It appears they have listened to what people have said about the PS3 including the developers so I'm pretty sure that will be included this time as that was a moan for a lot of people.

hahahha

I watched it last night and the after presser talk.

Most of the games, the developers admitted where actually running on a PC behind the scenes (same spec as the PS4).

This was nothing more than Sony trying to steal a march on MS with promises, but no actual product / prices or dates to show.

Very carefully worded about exclusivity of the games, most of them will be ported to all consoles.

It actually looks like PS3 playing catchup to xbox with of course better graphics.

I am no fanboy, but I can see marketting BS when i see it and this did not make me want to buy one over an xbox.

MS will be rubbing their hands, lets see what they bring out.

The only thing I like about this announcement, and the new generation of consoles, is that finally developers won't need to hold back the graphics for games from what they could be, which means a higher quality PC gaming experience.

At least for a while.

Well im impressed with it, the only annoying part was the PSVita promotion they attempted but I expected them to do this due to how much the handheld is failing at the moment.

People moaning about not getting to see the design need to relax, does the design really matter right now? they will be holding onto this until e3 in June where they will more than likely turn up with the console and prices.

Release titles are never overly amazing, im just looking forward to Watchdogs.
