I've seen a lot of it on here, so I can be bothered to quote everyone. But yes the PS3 made a lost but "playstation" are a branch of Sony. The PS3 may have made losses but look at what it won. The Blu-ray vs HD war... Because every PS3 had a blu-ray player in it more people bought blu-rays over Toshiba's HD format. Which as we all know blu-ray is now the current format for High Def films and movies.
So while playstation made a lost, Sony earned tons of cash... just in a different area.
It's so amusing seeing people on here claiming that Sony almost went bankrupt because of the PS3. When it is far from the case. Microsoft on the other hand "tried" adopting Toshiba's HD but its ultimate downfall was not including with the console as standard. That said Microsoft made up that downfall in other areas by including some really good exclusive IP's and a have the base for a huge online gaming community.
This playstation event is still extremely early so of course Sony are not going to release all the details. Because Microsoft are yet to make a move. As a business sense you simply do not show all your cards to your competitors until they show some of theirs.
For the PS4 it seems Sony are really going to push this "playstation cloud" (or whatever it is called, with Gaikan).
All of what Sony have said is kinda meanless until we know what the competitor will offer. For all we know Microsoft might not make a move until E3. But I am extremely interested to see what Microsoft do bring to the table.
I am in no way a fanboi to either brand. I generally just buy bother
