Plusnet Discussion Thread

Plusnet are good.

Yep they are I posted on the forum how my speeds dropped and pings went up and someone checked my line and saw a fault on my phone line and they are fixing it now and should be completed by Monday.

Been with them over 18 months and no problems what so ever

I was connected today but am getting chap authentication failed. Changed the username and password so can only assume it's a migration problem or an outage :(

Edit - Openreach hadn't put my username on the system, back up and running at the same speed I was with BT.

Just had my fibre installed, d6400 is showing the sync rate at 79 down 19 up but bt speed test is giving me 8 down and 16 up..... No idea what's going on here. I even connected up my old 7800n along with the bt modem and had the same result. Any ideas what could be going on?

thanks for the help guys. I tried wireless at 5ghz and wired both gave more a less the same result. The speedtest server i picked was a london one hosted by vodafone. When the engineer tested the line to the modem he showed me the result which was all passed and also showed 80 down and 20 up.

The router is synced at 80/20 as well
Will call plusnet now i guess

Does anyone have the problem where the router doesnt connect automatically to Plusnet? We had it installed a week ago at my mother in-laws and I presume its re-training at the moment to find its best speed but it doesnt connect back. I have to log on to their router and click connect and then job done. Fine for me but not easy for my 70yr old mother in law.

Thanks for all the help guys, line is now running at 75mb down and 19 up! Must admit the 5ghz wireless really does make a difference to speed as well.

Only issue i have now is getting the darn stats on the d6400. DSL Stats doesnt appear to want to work even with the tweak tool that gets mentioned to allow telnet. Was thinking of maybe hooking up a bt modem to it and using that rather than the built in one as i heard they can be unlocked

Must admit I'm not happy with plusnet after switching from BT Infinity. Don't know what's wrong but getting ping spikes and packet loss pretty much constantly and they say they can't find a fault. 3+ years with BT and everything was fine.

What speed did you get with BT? im synced at 79988 and there speed test is showing i am getting 67mb down. Ping is showing 38ms though which i thought was quite high really. IP Profile is showing 77.42. Going to keep an eye on things for sure

My speeds are fine (I sync at full and my maximum throughput is higher than 80/20, around 120/40) but the packet loss and ping spikes are affecting my gaming, bit annoying play CSGO when the game lags out for seconds at a time.

Keep hearing things about changing the gateway you're connected to but tbh I don't want to have to do that to fix the problem every day or so...

I moved to Plusnet from BT, moving back to BT next week - price rises, support hours changed, and little niggly problems such as gateway hopping to get best connection, had enough. If it had been 2 years earlier would have been different story by all accounts, but seems they're going downhill rapidly and putting themselves in same space as TalkTalk.

No complaints here. For what they charge their service has been fine and I'd still choose them in preference to BT or Sky.

There are plenty of complaints about other ISPs in the other FTTC threads.

Why does speedtest.net vary so much! Ran a BT speed tester on wireless and got 74mb down, ran the same test on speedtest and got 38mb down. Very odd, would like to get my ping sorted as well as its still around 26ms according to the results

My install isn't slated to be until the 20th but I've got a couple of friends with them and they have nothing but good things to say!

Are you using the bundled router?
WiFi or wired?
