Plusnet Discussion Thread

Just cancelled sky TV, line rental and broadband an hour ago. Are Plusnet any good then? Would offer me a considerable saving.

Been good for me so far. Sometimes can be a bit slow to answer tickets during busy periods but have always sorted my issues well.

Probably good if your a new customer, but for a 10 year customer this week they've been complete crap. Tempted to ditch them.
They have cocked up my switch over from ADSL to Fibre, which was done on Monday 4th. Some how over looked changing the settings their end, BT done all the work and signed it off as 71meg. ( I get 17meg up load and still my old 5.8 download due not being switched over)

So after 3 call to them, and two call backs they managed to cancel my original order as they didn't no how to flick the switch, and done a new appointment and switch over for the 19th...WTF !!!! All that is required is for them to change my account....

Problem seems to be caused by the fact that I requested they gave me the advertised discounted rate new customers get, as existing customers got nothing for switching service... They agreed without question, but seem unable to know how to do it.... Pathetic really.... Loyalty doesn't always pay.

So I'm now again waiting for there response to a ticket, which takes about 2-3 days!!! Maybe one day I'll get fibre speed.

Unfortunately that's the case today, loyalty doesn't pay. Better deals are always reserved for new customers just like with mobile phone tariffs. However Plusnet sounds good enough for the price so I think I'll go for them.

Truth be told I didn't want the Sky broadband and line rental cancelled but somewhere along the lines of being put through to cancellations they cancelled the as well as the TV package I wanted rid of.

UMMM so i just found out that my parents house(now mine) doesnt have Fibre optic yet where i use to live with my ex literealy 5mins down the road, has got fibre optic????

wtf

Different cabinet probably.

That is the more likely cause since one area can have several cabinets and one might not have has it's fibre cabinet set up (if you put each address into the BT checker, it'll tell you which cabinet they're connected to).

I thought they upgrade a single area's whole infrastructure to cater for Fibre optic? Ok maybe not all at once but within a time period?

They certainly upgraded the majority of my area

Can anyone help. Got connected today . BT router solid green light. Plus net router solid green. Pulled red cable connected to plus net router and connected to my laptop. Setup a PPOE connection with my account details but still can't browse to internet tried the BT DSL account too and same problem. plusnet support said a BT fault and call would have to be raised. Not a great start to a new connection and now no internet :(

Update...
Connectivity just returned getting the following .. on the unlimited Fibre, What do you normally do ? wait 10 days before contacting plusnet if there is no speed increase ?

You should be getting the full speed of whatever package you're on from day one (that's what I got after my connection went live), so your profile might need a bit of a nudge to bring it in line with what speeds you should be getting.

I have open case, looks like a cab fault, as i see this

phone exchange:
UPTON PARK
Estimated line speed:
40Mb (Download speed could vary depending on line conditions. Estimates are the maximum speeds that your phone line can support. These speeds are dependent on the package you choose.) - Checked on 2014-08-07 22:35:38
Current line speed:
15.9 Mb

Hey Guys

Just jumped on the bandwagon and had Fibre installed a few days back.

Quick query, I'm currently using Homeplugs rated for 85mbps (TP-Link 85Mbps Powerline Adapter) and upstairs on my main machine, downloads are a lot slower than I think they should be.

Obviously I'm thinking the homeplugs are the main culprit, would it be worthwhile to ditch them for some 200Mbps models? Or even some 500Mbps ones?

Test the connection using a network cable.

Homeplug AV500 will solve your problem. End of!

Not necessarily.

Is the homeplug upstairs on a different loop to the other? If so, even the latest and greatest 1300mbps ones will perform poorly.

Do you have a laptop or something with which to test the homeplugs in different sockets around the house? Might be worth resetting them too.

hmmm I do actually, thanks for that, They've been left turned on for as long as I've had them (1 1/2 years nearly) I'll give that a bash this weekend, Cheers :D
