Well there's plenty of footage coming out now where she is warned over the years by serving (and former) police officers that her cuts to the budget were risking both the police and national security:

It's crazy we live in a society where a lot of the police stations near me have had to be sold off to help fund gaps in the Essex police budget.

in the interests of debate I think the mods should lock this thread to all until lolscorza posts an apology thread saying he was wrong about the Met police running away
There was an eye-witness report in The Observer on Sunday morning saying that - I've seen no evidence suggesting the eye witness was mistaken. Since then the story about the BTP officer confronting the three knife wielding losers with only a baton has come to light - fair play to him, he's obviously the right stuff for the police.

Cabinet minister refusing to answer the question "Do we have more or fewer armed police than we did in 2010?” (when Theresa May became home secretary)

http://www.thepoke.co.uk/2017/06/05...er-question-15-times-still-doesnt-get-answer/
1.

“Do we have more or fewer armed police than we did in 2010?”

2.

“Can you answer the question?”

3.

“Do we have, let me just ask you…”

4.

“Let me ask you a simple question – do we have more or fewer armed police than in 2010?”

5.

“Do we have more or fewer armed police than we had in 2010?”

6.

“Can you please just answer then question please?”

7.

“I’m simply asking, I would like to ask you one more time, I want a straight answer.”

8.

“I will try one more time. Do we have more of fewer armed police than when Theresa May become home secretary in 2010?”

9.

“More or less?”

10.

“Do we have more or fewer armed police than we had in 2010?”

11.

“Why can’t you answer a straight question?”

12.

“Either you are embarrassed by the answer or you simply don’t know, which one is it?”

13.

“Just finally, do you know if the number of armed police in this country has gone up or down in the last six years, do you know the answer?”

14.

“Is there any reason why you cant answer the question?”

15.

“So you just don’t want to answer?”

No, it turned out, she didn’t. Can’t imagine why.

Would more armed police have made a difference to the London or Manchester events? Interested to here why people think yes or no.

I think that's difficult to answer. What I would listen to though ... Is the actual police staff. Numerous ones have said... And including the gentlemen on that sky news interview... Is that the cuts have made them reactive and not proactive.

When those terrorists were reported I presume having more police staff meant that they could at least be checked upon more frequently

Probably not. So its all just political posturing. Anyone saying it would have made a difference is wrong, in my opinion anyway.

Still doesn't divert away from the fact that she should just answer the damn question.

For the London Bridge attack, if there were more police stationed around or on patrol, there may have been some nearer who could have dealt with the attack even quicker and prevented some deaths/injuries. Conjecture I know, but that is one possible outcome of there being more armed police/police available.

Do the police do this though, or is the monitoring not the job of the intelligence agencies? Haven't they seen an increase in numbers over the years? Controversial!

The argument is that the majority of the 20,000 officers were community officers. The people on the ground who were fostering trust in communities and who would be the first port of call if somebody had concerns about a member of their mosque with increasingly extremist views.

Rather than ringing a number and being ignored

I'm not entirely sure to be honest and not going to act like I'm an expert on the subject. All I've heard is countless staff say how they are stretched and overworked .... Similar to staff at the NHS.

I can understand cuts when the country needs to pay down its debt but it seems like its just cut after cut after cut and theres only so much staff can take.

No, not in any way. The most complaints have been not about armed police but people, especially Muslims calling the hotlines about people they know, sometimes several times, and mothing being done about it. It is the backroom police investigating these people that is needed, not armed police.
