I swapped my DSL cable over for the Tandy high quality one yesterday. I did so at the same time as installing the new modem firmware as I didn't want to have more than one disconnection in case DLM saw them as dropped connections.

Because of this it is difficult to say which was responsible for the DS speed increase, but there was a definite increase. Attainable speed went up by 4mb, sync speed by about 2.5mb.

I would say both have a part to play, very nice increase for little outlay.

This will help people whos lines are not as expected.

I would be happy with that.

You will notice less crc/hec errors too, this might also help people who drop in and of fastpath.

Yes your line is about 650 to 700 meters long, so attainable rate looks about right.

Cheers. Anything in the future to upgrade this speed?

More of a case of interest than need really, for what I use the net for it's good enough but it's nice to have extra.

Vectoring might give you a little boost if your cab is already heavily populated.

yeah, I have seen a friends line connected at 57mbit at 750-800meters of .5 copper, but it's now been chopped down to 45mbit due to crosstalk.

The predicted speeds using my phone number and postcode estimated around 66mb but obviously I am not getting that.

66mb estimate would put you at about 250 to 300 meter line, but your line is longer than that at about to 450 to 500 meters(rough estimate). Might be a poor D-side (some or all ALU) or heavy crosstalk.

Try one of those cables from Tandy, try the newer hg612 firmware, have a look at the house wiring and wait for vectoring.

DLM the wonderful thing (not) has put interleave on your line. I think it's the lowest depth and 3 INP symbols is low (so far)

Lucky for you - you had a decent ping to start with so around the 20ms mark.

Interleave is doing it's job on your line, I see you are now getting much less packet loss.
