Post your FTTC line stats & unlocking info

How will I know when I'm on a good one? My ping plot with thinkbroadband went mental when I used Usenet.

You need to cap download speed if you don't want jitter. Line saturation always causes it.

Here's an example:

wdXGX.jpg

Torrents seeding 24/7 (upstream QoS enabled). The download kicked off at 4PM caused the latency to rise. Power cut experienced shortly after 4PM, latency returns to a very low figure and packet loss disappears.

Just seen this comment. I will limit the download speed to a few 100 kbps below the max speed. I don't download often, so it won't really affect me that much.

OK - so ive flashed it and all seemed ok, I can log into the web interface, but i get like 10 seconds and then the connection seems to drop :S

Any suggestions ?

Cheers :)

Hi - no I havent tried Telnet and not sure anout the IP - Ill check both when I get home from work tonight.

I can access the router menu, it's just for #10 seconds and then the connection drops :S

Hi guys, just looking for some assistance here could you take a look at my stats below please? I'm 500m from the cab and was estimated 35 meg, something doesn't look right to me. Thanks!

It must be Aluminium, what speeds would I be getting if it was Copper? My connection is also very unstable and I'm experiencing pings of about 40ms, being a gamer I find this very frustrating, my connection was more stable on TT LLU, because DLM didn't take part!

Looking at the attenuation, it's much much more than 500 meters, closer to 1k, or as above a poor alu line.

but hey, 33mb is better than what you used to get right?

Hes getting 26mb though, i have 1060 metres of alli, i get 14mb

Just done a modem re sync, these are the results I'm getting now, I've calculated the route via Google Maps and I'm 550m from the cabinet, the drop wire goes to a telephone pole and underground to the cabinet, I believe most if not all the cabling is Aluminium. Here are the stats...

Should I ask my isp (TT) to higher my throughout put speed? It looks to me like they have capped it? I should be syncing around 35 meg from the looks of it.

Thanks for the help guys! This fourm is really helpful.

I don't understand, My line is capable on 36 meg, I was estimated 35, I see people on here getting within 2 meg of the max speed capable, my path speed is 28, something must be wrong. if my max speed was 30 I would be happy.
