PS(PC)VR 2, anyone interested?

Got it, I have a cheapo extension cable so will give this a go tomorrow! But if it was interference, wouldn't it just be totally unresponsive, or lose connection? The fact that I can still move my fingers and press buttons perfectly fine is a little odd.

Re. the Asus dongle, I read the opposite which is why I bought the TP-Link which makes we wonder if the choice of dongle is actually a moot point!

I did some reading and apparently USB 3.0 has inherent interference issues with Bluetooth...? Is it worth investing in a USB 2.0 back panel header to try this? (Don't have any spare onboard 2.0 ports).
Also heard updating the latest tp-link software helps, been to busy to try it yet

Yeah I already did this before I started playing, so not sure if it helped or hindered!

Yeah tried it myself but says I already have latest firmware, I have a usb extension do I'm going to try moving it in different areas and see if that helps, I'm in the process of putting a new pc together so I'm hoping the bluetooth on the asus tuf motherboard will work

Does anyone know how to stop games defaulting to the PSVR controllers when I need to use an Xbox gamepad?

Hide them in a secret special place that the PC won't find them.

I also have the issue with tracking on one hand occasionally, can move fingers etc with triggers but can't move the hand (usually the right one) until I shake it around like a mad man for a minute :) my dongle is in the usb port ontop of my pc so its only a matter of a ft or so away from my right hand, might try and extension from a rear port

Tried Skyrim VR over the weekend on the PSVR2, and was really disappointed with the visuals, chiefly because of the clarity (again I'm constantly comparing to my G2). Also Compared to Half Life Alyx (which I've got looking good in the PSVR2 with reshade sharpening) Skyrim's clarity just looked 'wrong'. So I tried my basic sharpening reshade but that didn't help much. I'm not having that I thought, ergo I went on a mission to get it looking as good as it possibly can on this headset. This is what I came up with, and I'm pretty pleased with it....

(NOTE: This is for using along with my custom ENB settings. If you use any ENB make sure any sharpening is disabled in that and that no AA is on in there either)

1. Use the "VR Toolkit" (https://vrtoolkit.retrolux.de/). Use the 'Generic VR' preset, but tweak sharpening down a touch to ~140. Leave all else as is.

2. Use the "Skyrim Upscaler VR" mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/82179) to enable DLSS or DLAA. THIS IS THE CRUCIAL ONE as it basically replaces TAA in the central area of the view (like foveated rendering) with DLSS or DLAA scaling/ AA, and leaves TAA on in the periphery only. I think the default TAA method used in this game is the main culprit for the awful clarity/ 'chunky' pixels in PSVR2.

Once installed correctly, bring up the menu whilst in game (only shows on monitor not in headset!) by pressing the End key. Unless you have a 4090 I recommend using DLSS balanced (am going to be supersampling quite a lot as described below), and set sharpeness down to ~5.00. Disable Fixed Foveated Rendering if it starts causing visual glitches.
NOTE: make sure you do leave TAA on in the game's VR menu settings though, and make sure you disable dynamic res in there too!

3. In SteamVR game settings, set custom resolution to ~125%. This will then be ~3800x3800 res per eye on PSVR2. In this game, and in MS Flight Sim 2020 I've found that using extreme supersampling and then using low to medium DLSS to scale up to that res yields the best visuals in terms of clarity and AA/ edge smoothness, if you are limited on GPU performance.

4. I have a 3090, and unless you have a 4090 (and even then if you are running an ENB like me then there's no way you will be able to hit and maintain 90fps) in SteamVR for the game's profile set "force always on" motion smoothing. This will lock the fps to 45 and interpolate up to 90, and it feels nice and smooth with tolerable visual interpolation artefacts. If you can't maintain a constant 45fps though you will get bad judder as no headset has VRR, so lower settings as you find necessary.

5. If running an ENB, in the effect.fx or post process section, tone down all the saturation levels by about 20%. The vibrant colours of the PSVR2 OLED panel are just too much for this game and it makes it look cartoonish. A bit of basic desaturation sorts it out nicely.

Doing the above has made a SIGNIFICANT difference on PSVR2 in terms of acceptable clarity, and now makes it 'almost getting there' compared to my Reverb G2 clarity (if haven't messed with anything for that). However, these tweaks also obviously impact the G2 visuals, so the clarity in that now looks INSANE - but - the black levels and colours are just so awful compared to PSVR2, I think I have to play the game on the latter now.

Is your PC on your left side or right side?

My PC is to my front left when I play (just a few feet away, same as yours), and it is always my right hand controller that loses tracking.

I've used an extension cord to tape the dongle right under the middle of my desk (couple of feet away from my PC), so will report back if that makes a different when I try it tonight!

You should but the dongle up as high a possible not under the table.

mine is on the right and is roughly around my head hight no more than 2ft away from where I would sit

Tried the old TP-Link adapter with the USB extension cord - still had tracking issues (in fact, maybe a little worse than without the extension!).

Got the Asus adapter yesterday morning, and no issues at all so far with the extension. Going to try it again tomorrow with the dongle directly plugged into my PC.

TL;DR - Asus adapter works better than the TP-Link one!
