PS3 Impressions and Opinions Thread **Now includes pricing information**

ok ok i was wrong

core £209
Wireless controller £33
Headset £15
Component Cables £20
HD-DVD Drive £100
60GB HD Drive £70

Total £447

Thanks for that, so you just screwed someone out of a netowork cable a media remote and a 20GB HDD they could have sold on ebay, well done.

I could also argue i used a cheap place on the net for my prices and didnt use a high street store!

all i've got to say about the demo's even if they are scripted, the MGS4 one was using the in game engine also, i got one thing to say the xbox 360 owners (inc me) AA BABY!!!
even if the PS3 actually runs some AA then imho thats worth a fortune
And even then lets got on Sony's 'expensive pack'
how much xbox gonna cost for that??

Premium - £270
HD-DVD drive - £100
60 gig HD Drive - £70

Oo'er thats £440 unless i am much mistaken
So now tell me, since thats the 2 consoles up to a simialr spec (we wont add on the 40 quid for live), the PS3 is too expensive
And lets not get started on the poor sods that where Core owners :p

[edit] as for the size, 360 owners carefully forget the fact that there is a power brick also to factor into the size of the console, both of which need to be kepts in a sterile container, running at a constant -16 degrees ambiant and it might mean your machine wont crash.
Since when do you need a 60gb hdd and HD-DVD drive to play games?
I'd also question you regarding PS3 online being free? As far as I could tell there was no mention of online gameplay being free (but maybe I missed it?). From what was said it just sounded like a similar service to XBlive(silver).......unless they intend on allowing the game developers to run their own servers, in which case we can expect every single game to have it's own subscription fee!

Why do you keep adding the 60gb hard drive.

Argue all you like the PS3 is WAY overpriced whichever way you look at it.

Not to mention by the time the PS3 comes out the premium 360 wont cost 270 anyway LOL :o

Well i did say i wouldnt add on the £40 for live, because of the fact the pricing for sony online hasnt been confirmed.

What i was doing, which appears to have been missed is show you that if you bring the 2 consoles to the same spec, then they are the same price!.

Sheesh, xbox owners being a bit bitter

Not bitter at all ive always been a PS fanboy, had the PS the PS2 and the PSP,

GOt a 360 now and i WONT be buying a PS3.

Too much money and all for what the 360 can do already

Premium £279 and if you really must add the HD-DVD drive then £100? so that's only £379 which is still cheaper than the low end PS3.

yeah the PS3 can do what a 360 can do, but not the other way around out the box :D

all i am trying to do is illustrate to some people who say its so expensive, what you are getting for your money is a lot, and MS will end up charging just as much.

at the end of the day many people dont want hd dvd or blueray, because of the cost, MS's way of doing it from a marketing sense at least is clever, as they can reach far more consumers with their price bracket, whilst catering for HD fans aswell. they can sit back and see who wins the war, if HDDVD wins im sure the HDDVD drives will be installed into the 360, but by this point the ££ of doing so to manufacture will also have dropped

as i say the 360 stands in better light in a business point of view in that resepct

Hah I had the price in euros still stuck in my brain! To be fair though, I'll never be buying the HD-DVD add on for the 360.

We'll be getting a PS3 in the house, the daughter wants one but I think she can make do with her PS2 for another year or two :p

No chance, not at that price! It'll be for me and she can play it when I'm sleeping or at work.

Well thats the PS3 screwed! GTA was one of the main reasons for me buying one.

Think of it this way.

PS3 will probably get GTA4 still, but will probably be more optimised and therefore may look better, have more features and will probably be less full of bugs... well in theory anway.
