PS4 and Xbox Rumours

This is pretty much the key here. I imagine the Xbox will end up limited to Freeview and thats if they secure a deal.</speculation>

How's that going to work? My TV has Freeview built-in. There is no method to pass that signal out to the Xbox. So unless you buy a separate Freeview box or suscribe to Sky or Virgin, the TV aspect is completely buggered.

Oh dear this mandatory install thing and user fees will be sticky.

Would like some confirmation of what that means to second hand games from shops.

You'll have to install games before you play them. When you install a game, it connects to your Xbox Live account. You can connect it to a second account, but you'll have to pay a fee. In other words, the traditional concept of "used games" is obsolete for Xbox One.

I swear we've got a whole lot of idiots in here. What's the downside to a console that plays the same games and does more than another one?

Seriously:

Same games.

Kinect.

TV integration.

Better controller.

Just as many exclusives.

If the price is similar, it's looking like you'll get a whole lot less for your money with Sony.

...Who exactly is arguing with you against these points o.O

All most people are saying is its a lot of fluff we dont want\need.

Its not stopping me buying it, as the important thing is still intact. The gaming!!

And when you say better controller, I'm sure you mean improved over its previous generation ofcourse. And when you say just as many exclusives you consulted the crystal ball :D

Seriously:

Same games. (Same multiplats on PS4 along with superior first party games)

Kinect. ( Playstation Eye)

TV integration. (nobody cares, i want a games console please)

Better controller. (I prefer the dualshock)

Just as many exclusives. (I prefer playstatio exclusives)

Don't forget that Xbox one has inferior hardware, and charges you extra to play a used game (bwaha)

Looks like a complete white wash for the PS4, unless you want a DVR instead of a games console.

TV integration in Britain is going to be hit and miss.

Sky and Virgin probably won't play ball, as they have their own equipment. All the services on the Xbox One seem orientated to the USA.

How will the xbox TV guide access Sky and Virgins' programme guides?

Its all too early to tell, but i'm not holding out any hope.

The bit I don't get is 360 already does this stuff and no one thinks it's a carp console, One just looks to me as if as well as doing the next gen gaming stuff which we'll see at E3, it take 360s existing media/internet/iptv stuff to next gen as well. How is that bad?

Of course if it turned out to be a pants gaming machine that would be a different thing but as far as we know it has the same memory size as PS4, bluray, decent HDD, same CPU as PS4 etc, the only thing we're not sure about yet is the GPU unless I missed something.

Lmao at the 3 or 4 members of the Microsoft defense force in here. The fanboy panick is hilarious

Bit rich coming from the leader of the PS4 defence force it seems? :o :p

Do exclusive games and consoles your friends own suddenly not matter at all? Just because it has extra features doesn't mean it's a negative... it's just a bonus. Unless of course there's a big price difference, but there won't be, or at least shouldn't be.

Inferior hardware - no it doesn't. Looks pretty much identical at the moment.

2nd hand games - not confirmed. I've only ever bought 1 second hand game before so I'm not fussed.

I waited to see what was announced before deciding. PS4 is a clear winner for me now. extra features aren't a negative, but on xbox one they are the main features and gaming is the extra feature, and that's definitely a negative.

I'll be getting both consoles as I always do, but if I had to choose one then at this stage it would have to be PS4. I felt Sony made a real effort to connect with gamers and tbh that's worth a fair bit to me.

I've no doubt come E3 that we'll see some games for the Xbox One but I can't get my head around why they would shy away from gaming and proper gameplay at an event like this. Also they seemed to shy away from specs, they knew the PS4 specs so if their's were better I'm sure they would have had pleasure in pointing it out.

I found the presentation boring especially as most of it was either US Sport or TV based, I know MS have not exactly grabbed the Japan market etc. but a presentation like that would not have helped raise any interest at all.

Its not bad, its a bonus ofcourse. :) But I have a smart TV and a Tivo box, So I really wouldnt use the features atall.

But they are a nice bonus for someone who would use them.

But in the end its all fluff, thrown into a gaming machine. And thats the part that interests me.

I was very underwhelmed by the COD demonstration

What a silly thing to say, given what we know of the spec so far that's clearly not the case anymore than it is with the exiting 360s media capabilities (or PS3s for that matter).

??? How is gaming the "extra feature". What more do you want them to say about it? "You put the disc in and it plays all the next-gen games".

Lol, Sony spoke about games for the entire presentation because they had no other features to talk about!
