I'd have to guess at PS4. The glass-like look of those button icons perhaps representing the style of the console?

Judging by press etc It does sound like something rather major, not just a game or two beeing shown. Sony has invited the media and investors to this event which will be live stream on the 20th, wouldnt do that normally.

Kotaku seems positive its the Ps4 reveal. MS won't be far behind with their reveal. Looking forward to making an informed decision on which to get.

now 1080P 60fps for all games, with a few 4k spec games at least in the works.

ps3 backward compatibility would be nice as a lot of games will still be very playable dust514 for example should have a good few years of life in it.

Or they may just remaster the PS3 titles - I can see it now. PS4K - your favourite PS3 titles remastered in AMAZING 4K definition.

something i remember reading said the ps4 would do 4k and upscale so remastering would be pointless unless it was new textures.

Yes but how is it going to run Cell architecture games? That's why I said they will be remastered (to x86-64).

depends more on the software side of the ps4 im guessing. as after all the cell is just the cpu, as long as the grunts there the ps4 os will be the limiting factor of running ps3 stuff.

Nah, Cell is specialised, its not just a CPU. And it cant be emulated, So theres no way the PS3 games will run, regardless of the spec of the console

I'd be surprised if ps3 games were not offered via gakai or whatever it was called. Maybe original game disk will be used as validation you own game and can stream online. Rest you can buy online .

shame if they cant get the ps4 to run ps3 titles as its going to mean running 2 machines for a lot of people.

Yeah, I think this was mentioned in one of the earlier threads, possibly even this one

And I think it seems very likely! although after playing around with onlive on my PC, I hope gakai is a little more perfected, as I didnt like it very much personally. Lag kept coming and going, although I have to admit, that was around the time it first launched.

Ps3 games are only 720p and even less so I'd imagine it would be easier to stream than high res pc games. Only a handful are 1080p

Roll on the 20th, I just hope it is the PS4 reveal. Maybe the tease is to try and get MS to show their hand too, if that's the case maybe Sony want to get on with the next gen as much as us, it would also mean they must be pretty confident with what they have.

The next 19 days are going to drag..
