PS4 and Xbox Rumours

I hope they don't push the gimmicky crap too far. I don't want to have a rubbish uncomfortable controller because ms or Sony wanted to add some unneeded crap to it. The novelty of the wii, kinect and the move wore off very quickly. I just want to be able to pick up and play a game without having to swing my arms about or have a camera on me at all times.

Pretty much this. Wouldn't want those small touch screens making their way onto the controller either. The novelty would ware off after a while. Not to mention the cost of replacement controllers. All of the usual places still charge close to £40 for a controller, of which I have been through a couple now.

oOo. I like that, one of the things i like about my android phone is the ability to control XBMC on my PC.

If they implement it nicely there I'd love it. The ability to scroll through movies etc on your controller and push the one you want. Plays on the screen?

Also, I note the bits that rest in your palm are more chunky like the 360, Not a bad thing!

Gawd Im worried how much these are gonna cost, especially finite battery life. I also thought it was a touchpad as opposed to a touchscreen? BTW why does that still show convex sticks?

ps3ud0

No change to the things that make me not get on with the playstation. Hope xbox doesn't end up blocking 2nd hand games then!

I hope in the final design the triggers are like the 360s' and the sticks are concave. Also i hope the dead zone in the sticks are smaller. Really disappointed that they haven't changed the placement of the sticks though.

I'm glad they have what appears to be a headset jack, I wasn't a fan of the bluetooth headsets.

I've heard more rumours about the next xbox blocking used games than the playstation xD, although would not be surprised if they both go down that route.

Thinking about it I will probably get a PS4... I've had a PS1, 2 and 3 and not been disappointed at all with any of them unlike I have with other consoles, but as always I will save my judgement until I've seen it and the competitors.

I don't get it - you want to be able to control a media player via the controller? Like we've been doing since the days of PS1, only with a touch screen on the controller instead of the D-pad/thumbsticks & buttons? Or you want media playing through the controller while you play other things through the TV? Or you want a DS-style secondary screen for games? I just don't see the benefit of having a touch screen - a controlling device - nested in a controller. As others have said, it'd just make the price of new controllers far too high.

That mockup looks pretty nice, I love the analogue sticks the way they are and the button placement is fine too. The only thing I'd change about the current pad is L2 and R2 because they aren't great during racing games and they're only just about bearable in shooters, which is obviously a poplar opinion amongst developers too as many FPS games map the aiming and firing to L1 and R1 instead.

The touch screen could be a pretty cool feature, you could just tap out a message or quickly check your friend list without having to pause or hide during multiplayer, the battery life will need to be decent though. I can get a few days of playtime out of the current DS3 without having to charge it so it'd have to match that at least.

I want the same as what XBMC Remote has in the android. the function of browsing the media through the pad, while its not on the screen and press it to play. It would be a great function, and welcomed.

Pricing could be a problem for some i suppose. But I'm not fussed :p

The battery life problems you guys keep mentioning though, I dont see it being that detrimental. Especially considering the day we're living in. I mean fair enough, a pad would no doubt last a little longer minus the display but it would hardly be day and night

Can't see the point when they could (and likely will) just develop an app that controls the console from your smartphone/tablet. It's a lot of functionality to build into the controller when there isn't practically going to be much good use made of it.

Fan of the dual screening, I see... ;)
