I think this looks rather ugly and cheap. Yes i think the old controller need a slight update but as they say if it isn't broke dont fix it!
 
The 360 controller is better than the ps3's but the ps3 controller isn't terrible. I have never suffered cramps when using my ps3 but I do prefer gaming on the 360 just because the controller is more comfortable. My two main gripes with the ps3 controller are the thumbsticks which my thumbs constantly slip off due to their convex nature and the awful triggers.

This really, in this day and age a lot of people forget that the PS3 pad is a modified PS2 pad which was a modified PS1 pad which was a modified SNES pad (the PS1 was the result of what was originally a joint venture by Sony/Nintendo, hence why Nintendo were late to the party that generation).

The fact that Sony kept the updates simple and people are still loving a highly refined design originally from the late eighties show how well the current formula has worked (and Nintendo's journey shows how wrong it can go).

As for the KB+mouse vs gamepad argument I have used both many times but ill let you in on a well kept little secret that only 90's gamers seem to know: when it comes to FPS, joystick+mouse > all :P
 
Does anyone else feel that MS will just come out with a much more complete and refined announcement at E3? Whilst Sony have wet our appetites there's still so much that we still aren't clear on.

No, there're rumours they're going to hold an event in April. So they'll save something for E3 as well, probably.

Probably but so will Sony at E3, they just wanted to get the ball rolling and no doubt after they fell well behind with the PS3 its probably relief that they could do it this time around - more importantly it gives investors some piece of mind too...

I dont actually understand why it matters how the information gets to us, more that it does in a timely manner

where did you read it would be out next year in the uk ? as at the moment sony haven't officially said all we know is winter 2013, personally i cant see us getting it till march next year at least and maybe even as late as september :rolleyes:.

I'm pessimistic about launch this year but no way will it be September 2014. Everyone will have bought an Xbox by then. :D
