PS4 and Xbox Rumours

Was an xbox gamer since the beginning but recently moved to PC gaming. Loving the better graphics but damn I miss Forza. When the 720 comes out it shall definitely get a place on my desk!

Same, this tends to happen every gen where there is a cross-over point when it's just so much nicer to play games on a decent specced PC, as the console versions of games (unless they are exclusives) are inferior technically.

It's happened to me over the last few months, the 360 now is gathering dust and any gaming I do now is on the PC.

When the new PS4/Xbox come out I will probably switch back to consoles again.

Yeah I'm the same. Especially for single player games, can get a better looking PC version usually around half the price at launch and I can still use a gamepad!

I may get one as long as they don't rip us off with pricing (though Australia always cops it worse) by doing something like US$1=£1, I'd be happy with a price of around £270 (fair amount given the US estimate), much more than that and it's only more likely I won't be getting one, it does also depend on receiving more information about the system though.

I don't imagine it'll be as cheap as £270 on release.

£300 - £350 would be my guess - and I wouldn't be too surprised if it was up to £400 (for the PS4 at least). It's certainly not going to be cheaper than the 360 was on launch, and that was (when I bought one a few months after release) £300.

The 360 had PhysX too I think, and that is an AMD (ATI) GPU. Also it's just an API, not hardware dependant.

I'm the opposite.

I was a hardcore PC gamer, spending hundreds of pounds every couple of years trying to keep my PC relevant for gaming, until it just got too expensive and unnecessary when my desktop's architecture became obsolete, requiring essentially an entire new system from scratch.

I bought an i5 laptop with a middling discrete graphics card about 3 years ago to replace my deskptop as my main pc and for the occasional gaming, and invested in a 360, getting a fantastic deal around xmas for an elite, two controllers and 4 games for £200.

I've not looked back since, and have been enjoying slowly going through the highs of the 360's back catalogue for bargain prices, as well as current releases, and have found it such a breath of fresh air not worrying about compatibility issues and messing with options to get a game running right.

I don't think I could go back to the endless upgrade cycle and configuration issues on the PC. I see no need to get a desktop, and the laptop has been great from a mobility's perspective.

I couldn't go back to pc gaming either tbh too much faffing about.

I love the difference between the 2 sub forums

Pc games - " omgz the graphics are amazing ill need to buy another card to get this run smooth on highest settings " and " just another console port ill pass"

Consoles - " having a good time gaming with friends tonight this new x game is really fun "

:p

What peeves me about PC gaming the most is people who buy 2x the highest end gfx card on the market, then moan that games aren't sufficiently exploiting their £600 investment.

And then go around telling everyone that has a single mid-high end card that they shouldn't expect new games to be playable on their "low end" rigs.

Tbh the PC market suffers from a couple things: people with too much disposable income, and buckets of elitism.

And that's why I'm looking forward to investing in either the NextBox or the PS4. And having seen the Crysis 3 Xbox vs PC comparisons, it seems that the XBox version looks 80% as good as the PC, which isn't bad for 6 year old hardware.

Jonathan Blow (creator of Braid) says

Jonathan Blow, the independent game developer behind Braid, revealed his new game The Witness at Sony’s PlayStation 4 reveal. And while it’s not a PlayStation 4 exclusive, it will be on Sony’s platform first.

Speaking with Edge Online, Blow notes that the new, still-unknown Xbox 360 successor is “not strictly about games,” leading him to PlayStation 4 as a result.

“To me[,] they talk about a console that is not strictly about games. It’s trying to be the
of the living room device, which is fine and maybe it’s the right thing for Microsoft to do, business-wise. I don’t know; I actually don’t think it is, but they’ve certainly thought about it more than me!”

Could be sour grapes as he doesn't like Microsoft much.
