PS4 and Xbox Rumours

I have been doing some reading up and the hardware Sony are packing into the PS4 is really quite astounding especially if it makes the under £400 expected RRP.

I was not overly interested at first but tbh the more I'm reading into it the more I'm looking forward to it.

Going to be a long year this... :)

I'm buying a new 51inch screen next month, It's in prep for the next gen. Ofcourse I'll have fun hooking my current consoles upto it too. But I've justified it to myself by saying its being bought to maximize next gens potential :D

It has to be done!

My friend says cant I just make do with the projector, NO! Sometimes the projector is hassle, I just want to turn on a big assed TV and game sometimes!

I couldn't go back to pc gaming either tbh too much faffing about.

I love the difference between the 2 sub forums

Pc games - " omgz the graphics are amazing ill need to buy another card to get this run smooth on highest settings " and " just another console port ill pass"

Consoles - " having a good time gaming with friends tonight this new x game is really fun "

:p

LoL! Seriously, how many chuckled at that? It's so true.

not looking for an argument pal.

he's saying he doesn't like pc gaming because people have a lot of money to spend on them. ...

"people with to much disposable income" lol

get a job, no offense.

But these elite PC gamers always whine about console ports...

Having a job doesn't suddenly mean I'm going to drop £1000 on a gaming rig (regardless of whether that's a console+massive TV or some other platform).

Do you think only unemployed people have limits on their spending? Don't be silly.

P.S. I'm not your pal, buddy.

Hey rainy face. Let the sun come out, you big bad G.I. Joe.

Besides, anyone who games on either one or the other should please shoot themselves. Get both consoles(excluding Nintendo) and a pc and enjoy everything.

What peeves me about PC gaming the most is people who buy 2x the highest end gfx card on the market, then moan that games aren't sufficiently exploiting their £600 investment.

And then go around telling everyone that has a single mid-high end card that they shouldn't expect new games to be playable on their "low end" rigs.

Tbh the PC market suffers from a couple things: people with too much disposable income, and buckets of elitism.

And that's why I'm looking forward to investing in either the NextBox or the PS4. And having seen the Crysis 3 Xbox vs PC comparisons, it seems that the XBox version looks 80% as good as the PC, which isn't bad for 6 year old hardware.

As somebody that is not biased in anyway and enjoy both formats, I can safely say that Crysis 3 is nowhere near as nice looking as the pc version. I have both (well flatmate has 360 version) and can make this comparision. The PC version is properly a next gen game that the PS4 would stuggle to max looking at the spec. That is no dig at the PS4 and I fully intend to buy one on launch but I hate people talking absolute nonsense and adding a pointless percentage against it. Have you actually seen Crysis 3 run maxed on a high end PC? or did you watch the IGN console vs PC video that was in 720p

Also with regards to "too much disposable income", I hardly earn amazing wages but I can save for things such as a new console at launch or upgrade my PC which to be honest ive not had to do in almost 2.5 years and still play most games maxed at above 60fps. You get the occasional elitist's in the PC community but if you go over the PC forum the majority are a helpful bunch and most do not infact have cross fire 7990's and so on.

Gotta love an armchair expert

You do realize that the specs of a console are in no way proportional to those of PCs don't you? So, for example, the 360 and PS3 only have 512mb of ram (that's 512mb IN TOTAL, not V-ram or system ram, but both combined) yet is able to make a fair attempt at running Crysis 3.

Even industry experts don't have a clue what the PS4 is truly capable of doing yet, all we've seen is unfinished launch titles, yet you claim to know better?

toned down unreal engine 4 is what PS4 will be capable of.

Yes, I know full well the a console and a similar spec pc the console would generally win due to coding directly for it and more optimised. Anyway my post was regarding the comparison made that the 360 version close to the PC version. I'm not denying they done well on such old hardware but to state its close to the maxed PC version was just silly really.

Of course people in the games industry don't know what the PS4 is capable of yet? I remember both the 360 and PS3 at Launch and look at the games produced now. Do you think the next gen consoles will be able to run games like Crysis 3 maxed at 1080 and above at 60fps? If it can then we are all in luck and I genuinely hope it can!

Its rather silly that you inferred a maxed PC version, when it doesnt appear that foxeye said anything of the like...

ps3ud0

Here's a character thats been supposedly specced for the ps4. Features Tesselation.

I'm guessing that sort of detail would be for standard characters you could go for more.

Its easy to me to me to see that even with the ps4's supposed meager resources, it will be capable of a lot, especially with the how far optimisations have gone, in fact it will probably take them a while to get used to the freedom. We shouldnt have any obviously blocky looking geometry like in Skyrim for instance.

Looking at the specs of the PS4 I really cannot see it having much difficulty running crysis 3 at high end pc levels and tbh I would expect this kind of level for launch titles.

Considering the specs of both the ps3 and 360 the fact crysis 3 runs and looks as good as it does is quite amazing. If this is what they are doing on 8 year old hardware with huge limitations the next gen is going to be very interesting.

Always win. Between a console and a similar specced PC the console will always win. For example, try to get any 360 game running on a PC with 512mb of ram and a Radeon X1800, it won't happen. Coding to the metal is a massive deal for hardware efficiency.

Maybe so, but you still stated your bilge about the PS4s capabilities when no one really knows yet. That was what my post was regarding.

I'm not sure whether you're agreeing with me or disagreeing with me here. Random '?' placement, reference to a comparison with no explanation of the results yielded from the comparison... nope, read it three times and still don't get it.

Yes, yes I do. But this is based merely on my limited hardware knowledge when comparing the PS3 specs to the PS4. It's just so very much more powerful than the PS3, yet the PS3 makes a half decent run at Crysis 3 itself.
