PS4 and Xbox Rumours

But MS have recently come out (a few times I think) and said that the largest proportion of time on Xbox Live is spent watching movies, Skyping, listening to music and NOT gaming!

ONLINE gaming, not gaming as a whole, which you can understand when movies are 1.5 - 3 hours long, or a TV show is 45 minutes. There will still be a massive amount of time spent playing offline single player stuff. People perhaps don't game online for as long as that, I know I don't even come close. Remember folks put a huge amount of SP time into things like Skyrim, which outweighs any streaming media use through XBL.

A consoles primary focus is still gaming, no doubt media is a massive part now though. Even Nintendo have embraced that which tells you something!

I'd say that 90% of my time gaming is offline or SP stuff. Rarely use the dash except to dl the odd demo. The media center thing will expand with the new consoles, I'm sure. But primarily I want a console to play games on and little else.

They will be getting the memory straight from the manufacturer at very preferable rates. The cost difference for them to buy 8GB of RAM over 4GB will be so negligible that it doesn't make much sense outside of EXTREME scrimping.

Let's say they save $4 putting in 4GB instead of 8GB. And let's say the new console sells as well as the Xbox 360, which has sold something like 60 million units. That's a saving of £240 million dollars. That's quite a lot of money.

That's assuming they are not passing the cost on and choosing to sell a £299 console instead of a £295. They won't sell 60 million in a week so they have to plan for the future and if $4 will give the machine more longevity then $4 is a small amount per console.

Rumours are pretty useless to be honest. One can say it uses an A10 APU and another can say it's GPU is similar to a 7970m. I'd rather just wait until the reveal before discussing specs.

I just hope they keep the controller simple and not put things on it for the sake of it. The vita for instance, love it, but the rear touch pad is just a pain and I don't want to be forced to touch a screen when I could easily press a button.

I also don't think they will rearrange the sticks to the same position as the 360 as that will be like admitting the 360s pad design was better (which it is IMO).

Just read an article where they reckon the ps4 will be announced in a matter of weeks nit months.. Can't see that but Sony may may be keeping quiet for a shock announcement

Well surely this will be the first console releases where they probably have some metrics how used such features as BC were - I personally think its a silly feature myself (though admittedly in the past its something I wanted in previous gens) and to people that ask for it, ask yourself the question when you last played a previous gen game on your X360/PS3 (for PS3 lets say its a bought PS2/1 game from PSN) or how often you have during your console ownership...

ps3ud0
