Same for mine when playing Days Gone vs Spiderman Remastered. When playing PS4 games it'll be running one of the BC modes so there may be different cooling profiles too.

The noise my fan makes when playing Astro and days gone is the same.

I would have thought it would be worse with days gone

I sent mine back to Sony for an exchange. Mine had a gpu fault where screen flickering/glitch occurred on the Home Screen.

Mines got quite bad coil whine and fans quite loud in game too , going to try contact Sony

Mine isn’t great either, and I can certainly hear it clearly a few feet away, even when just on the Home Screen. I’m pretty sure the noise isn’t as intended. Hard to know without comparing to another console though.

I suspect I’ll try and get mine replaced at some point by Sony.

I just ran a decibel check on my ps5 and compared it too the digital foundry results and they are basically the same so maybe I’m just being silly

Mine is pretty much silent. During intense action in games I've muted the TV and moved right up to the ps5 and still only a subtle sound.

So mine has the coil whine, which it seems is pretty normal - how loud it is depends on luck - german video, reviewer has multiple units all with some level of noise:

what numbers did you get?

Ive just measured mine: 37db sitting 2ft from the ps5, 42db right on the ps5 and 47db at the rear vent where the heat comes out

Thanks went for a 20 metre fibre optic and glad to say it works fine, PS4 looks so much better in 4k

with Valhalla running, i’m getting 34db a couple of feet away, 32db about 2 metres away, and between 42db and 47db at various points around the console.

With the ps5 turned off I get 28db in the room.

should say measured on my phone, so not sure how accurate.

I got 32db with the console on idle at the Home Screen and between 41 and 45db playing Cold War, I think only reason I think it was going to be quieter is because it’s sitting close to me on my desk

35db on the home screen, 50db max when in game (spiderman remastered).

At my head, the room is 25-28db, and my PC under my desk is 30db at about 6 inches away.

I'll see if it improves after the launch calms down, might see if it can be replaced.
