PS5 Noises

Mine is 33DB on homescreen and 45DB playing cold war.

However, I have noticed that my fans almost makes a droning noise when speeding up and down - Once it is up to speed it seems to stop - but does it both ways. Speeding up its almost like a whine, anyone elses?

Also, I may of been naughty.
(In two ways, the other isn't appropriate :p)
The PS5 Fan is user accessible. So I wanted to see if there was anything loose or anythinglike that. Both side panels removed. Disc drive side and there are four screws, unscrewed them, removed the dust cover and then the massively thick fan just comes out!

I was worried something might of been loose making the droning noise. Now I started it up without the side panels on, there seems to be less of it - Maybe it is the side panels resonating.

The fans spins freely, not catching on anything and the screws are down tight again.

Though, my OCD over it is driving me mad - So wondered if any of you lot have noticed the same thing?

Mine is 100% coil whine, easy test for this is that the sound pitch or tone changes when looking around in the game as the load changes, looking at the sky/ground/highly populated area etc.

Okay. But, mute the TV, close the game. The fan will slow right? It when it does that I can hear the high pitch noise - Almost like a whine. The same when it starts up a game.

I have a GTX 980 with insane coil whine so I can live with the PS5 coil whine. It sounds like the fan, becuase the coil whine buzz happens shortly afterwards.

So launch a game - 1 second later the fan will spool this is the point I hear the whine as it speeds up. :)

And if it's fan related, you'll hear some noise by making the fan move when the console is powered off (ruling out coil whine/disk drive).
Fan spins freely - No issues there.

It seems to be when the fans speeds up - a slight whine from it. I seem to remember my old fat PS3 doing it too.

Maybe i'm super sensitive to noise.

If mine has the fan whine, I can't hear it over the coil whine!

It's a little annoying, especially as the series X is completely silent from reports - there's a lot of reports of coil whine so hopefully Sony will acknowledge the issue.

Putting the headphones/headset on solves the issue though! Sort of... :p

See I don't think i'm mistaking it for fan noise.

The whine starts as soon as the fan spools, then the coil whine when the system starts pushing frames.
Coil whine I can deal with, my old pro was bad for it. :p

I had two PS4 Pro's that made a similar noise to what I've seen of the PS5, but that wasn't the high pitched coil whine. Thankfully only played them with headphones on or I'd go insane.

It's not completely silent at all. People don't seem to know what silent means.

Source: Had one for 3 hours :D

Compared to the PS5, the Series X is for all intents and purposes silent. Both are much better than previous consoles but there is no comparison at the end of the day.

No, you can say it's quieter, its objectively false/wrong to say it's silent. My PS5 is a bit louder than the series X but the only fair comparison would be to play the same game on both, didn't have any next gen games to try on the X. Neither consoles are loud to me though.

"for all intents and purposes"... i'm not saying it's silent.

At a distance of about 8 feet it's inaudible. The PS5 isn't.

lol, give up on the "no next gen games on the Xbox" either, what next gen games are you referring to for PS5?

Both of your points there are strangely fanboyish.

Every year I unblock you for a bit to see if you've grown up, you've failed for the last 5 so back on it you go, permanently this time. You are certainly in no position to call anyone on this forum fanboyish either.

If you have to mute your TV to hear the console then it’s quiet, you could hear the PS4 pro easily over TV audio.

As for no next gen games, the XSX launched with no new first party games, the PS5 launched with multiple first party games.

Sure you can claim they don’t count because one’s a remaster, 2 are cross gen and one is a pack in, but that’s your choice.

So no PS5 next gen titles to name then? The only child here is you, throwing your toys out of the pram because i'm stating a fact that the Series X is quieter than the PS5. That's actually the only statement i'd made, you're the one who went all defensive because I said one was clearly better than the other.
