Why is everyone so angry about this? It's a charity, creating a device to help school children learn to program. The people running this re-mortgaged their houses to get the initial run manufactured and yet people are moaning that they didn't produce enough of them?!

The demand for this amazing little computer has been above and beyond what any small team/charity could ever hope to cope with from a standing start. While they may have been able to make some better choices in how to launch it I really think the venom and anger being shown by a lot of people is way out of proportion.

I'll be coming back in a couple of days/weeks and ordering mine. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute something back to the community which will spring up around the device either through tutorials or documentation.

This. Too much impatience and greedy consumerism. The RPI team don't owe anyone anything. Appreciate that they are doing this whole project in the first place.

The fault lies with RS and Farnell. They "yeah, yeah" 'd RPi about their server's capacity and made RPi look bad.

However, having those companies leading the ordering is a good thing as quantities will ramp up.

That's the real good news to take from this. Rather than relying on small scale bitty production they now have 2 partners who are able to rapidly ramp up and supply large numbers of these boards.

I think both of them have been given a wakeup call today about the possible demand and potential of this product (and the lovely up-sell opportunities that go with them ie. cases, memory cards etc). At those price points there can't be much in the way of profit margin so expect them to push the bundles and extras where they can.

On the waitlist.

A marginally on topic something as the official forum appears to have vanished (Load isses?)-
Anyone have any suggestions for relay boards to go with this?
I'd like to control ~100 non-latching relays from one of these (Yes, I know.....), with the aim of knocking up a rather custom PHP based web interface and from that touchscreen remote control.
Cheap is obviously better, but still :)

Iam waiting a few days before trying to order, give the sites a chance to sort themselves out, no rush anyway as there are plenty of things I need to work out first.

Need to make up some designs and dimensions for the case, sort out a power supply and wiring as well as get on top of debian which iam currently running through virtual box and is taking me a bit of time to get used to after 15 years of windows.

Havent had a chance to try fedora yet so not sure which to go for.

Available for sale "Nah.. not really".

It's called pre-order for goodness sake. They shouldn't have launched unless they could fulfill orders.

Power supply? Mobile phone charger that can supply the required current :-) LG Optimus 2X charger for example can supply 1A.
