They are made up figures.... how accurate were the made up 4090 figures? I'm guessing not very

Anyone who doesn't realise Raytracing will be as common in games as shadows or pixel shaded water is deluded.

IDK though maybe you people game with shadows etc turned off

Remember when GPUs struggled with shadows? and then they didn;t.

well thats ray tracing now with a 4090.... AMD holding back gaming as always with dog turd RT performance when it should be a priority feature people who buy the top card from them expect.

probably would have cost them a few dollars to up the RT core amount
Yeah in another 5yrs that might be true for RT but by then the there will be another 2-3 generations of cards by both companies when it actually matters.

I brought the 6900xt cause I didn't care about RT. I don't need to buy this gen but unless I play a handful of games specifically I'd always be buying a 7900xtx this generation.

RT is not worth a 50%+ cost difference.

Do we compare used prices to new prices now?

Its no good if AMD aren't competing with a 2 year old ex-miner from Ebay.

Don't you see? The convenience of that is AMD can never compete with that, so we can keep telling people to buy Nvidia, even if it was jet washed before it was bundled into a random box.

That is true. No warranty on £600+ products from unknown origin... yikes!

Right.... so AMD's brand new card with a 3 year warrenty should compete with an Ebay GPU that's spent the last two years mining.

If that's your idea of fair competition then AMD can never compete.

Check MM, ebay, they are selling daily for this price. There's a huge demand for 3080, 3090, 3090ti 2nd hand. Whether you like it or not, people want and are buying them. This is a big part of why Nvidia has 80% of the dGPU marketshare IMO.

Denying that this is happening, while the evidence is right in front of you, means you just can't accept reality.

So what do we think of this design?

I think it looks better than any AIB design i have seen to date.
It is quite a busy design but it isn't vulgar, its well proportioned with some nice design touches like the way the fan blades integrate in to a design feature of the fan hub, and the 3 red fins on the top of the cooler is a nice touch.

Its been properly an competently designed from sculptural point of view, IMO it looks really good.

Oh.... and its not too ####'ing big. Its a nice size.

I would be content for that design to be in my PC haha lets put it that way i think it's simple which is all i need.
I don't need these stupid "GAMER EDITION SHROUDS" on my products lol

Oh we have the flood shepherd! Remind me of the reality of this, especially in the UK market??!

Yeah, I've seen that. There are SOME well maintainted mining GPUs, but you never know. My brother bought post-mining 3070, from local miner (and not from Asia), who didn't hide it - price was good and he got invoice claiming it's new, hence warranty should work just fine, as the miner is incorporated. Nothing wrong with that card either. But that is rare. I'd not buy 3090 or any FE second hand - NVIDIA specifically says they will NOT honour any 2nd hand warranties, these aren't transferable at all.

Why wouldnt there be a demand. Which reality are we denying.....this is more low rent trolling.

This seems appropriate but remember, amd are the saviours!!! Just don't look at their latest cpus either :p

Personally I would stomp up the extra for a 7800xtx over a used 3090 going for £700 though but reality is, in UK, 7800xtx will likely cost an extra £100-200 over MSRP....

hmm thats gonna hurt sales of ampere chips they still need to get rid off .. thats why they priced the 4080 16gb £1269 nice price hike from 3080 £650 :) guess also price hikes lower down the stacks as well 4070 £600 - £700 ?guess it depends on AMD what they have to offer down the stack

If they priced the 4080 16gb at £700-£750 would have made AMD rethink pricing of the 7900 would have been win win for the consumer oh well maybe next gen might be something for the peasants

The only reason people are buying used is because new prices for 2 year old cards suck while the new cards Ada cards will start at £1300.

Yeah i think a lot of these AIB designs are quite ugly.

I like EVGA, i have a huge amount of respect for them, i have one of their PSU's and EVGA is what i will be looking for when it come to replacing it.

I realise beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but look at this thing.... the proportions are all wrong, the moulded logos on the fans make it look like it has the pox, the texture on the shroud makes it look cheap, the shape makes it look thrumpy, the enormous light bar at the top is completely over the top and what is with the Golf GTI lipstick on the end of it?

So lets get back to the real world for a moment.. 40 series cards £1700+ yep.

Yeap, affordable raytracing for the masses right there and people wonder why Devs can't be bothered adding more and better effects.

Don't want to take this thread into the RT argument again so will link to a more appopiate thread, worth reading this post when we talk about "affordable ray tracing":
