*** Resident Evil 2 Remake ***

In some ways he has become a parody of himself, in his early days I found all of his reviews to be quite reliable but then he got fame for ringing his bell and now I find his reviews to be a lot less trustworthy because he just seems to purposefully find things that he can ring his bell gimmick about. If I was him, I would drop the whole childish bell nonsense and return to just reviewing the games.

As for the game itself, it looks good but I balk at the price for a remake of an old game. Once its dropped to around the £20 mark then I will pick it up.

What's the ringing the bell thing all about? It reminds me of that awful Radio 5 live show with Danny Baker when he does a similar gimmick.

Never played RE2 back in the day but have tried the demo on both PC and PS4 pro, I absolutely love it but not sure what platform to buy it on. Swaying towards PC at the moment for silky smooth frames and much easier aiming.

Mac half the time just crys about anything tbh
Why do people on this forum always post this random guys reviews? Is the reviewer a member on here or something? Seems odd to always post this guys reviews up, when he seems to just be some random, small youtuber. His opinion of the game is no more of value than any other person posting in the thread that has played the game, so I don't know why people even bother watching these reviews anyway.

I don't understand why anybody would want to reset it.
I enjoyed the demo but playing it over & over just seems a bit of a waste of time.

Played it for half an hour, managed to get 1 of the medallions, got a good taste of the game and will buy it :)
Not really hard getting the medallion I got, you basically have it as soon as you get the guys notepad with the pictures of the medallions and where the hand holding starts

Did any of you run the game in DX12? I ran the game in DX12 with ultra/high settings at 1440p and I was getting 50-70fps on average.
(Ryzen 5 1600 3.7ghz, ref Vega 64 with mem OC to 980mhz only and 16gb ram)
I only got upto the 3rd floor where you spot the licker outside through the window, picked up shotgun though but spent at least 5mins faffing around.

I ran it on DX12 @ 3440x1440
I set the limiter to 60fps so I'm not sure of actual frame rate. I didn't ever see it drop below 60 though.

I used 100% max settings apart from:
AA - used FX+TX or whatever that option was below SMAA
Turned film grain off
Turned Depth of Field off
If there was a motion blur option (cant remember) that would be off

Enjoyed the demo and they seem to have done a pretty decent job from what I've seen so far. The limited inventory space could get slightly annoying possibly, however it can be upgraded. Looks and plays like classic Resident Evil which is the main thing. Ran well at 1440p maxed out bar shadows one notch lower on high - mostly around 80-110fps. Sound, mainly voice strangely quiet.

To complete the demo, I managed to complete it in 40 mins.

I also ran it at 3440x1440 with these settings except I used SMAA & DX12, I didn't limit the fps but it did occasionally drop below 60 but not often and a lot of the time it sat around 70 which is ideal for my 75hz Freesync monitor, I'm looking forward to playing it on release.
It looks good but there was an issue which you can see on the ceiling strip above the righ side stair rail, It looks like peeling paint in the picture, when you look around you can see it moving across the ceiling and walls, I don't recall seeing it beyond this section though but I was a bit busy so may of simply not noticed it.

I tried it, being AWFUL with scary games, I had a jump after a noise happened in the dark hallway and alt+f4'd the **** out of it.

I'll try again tonight. It looked amazing and ran flawlessly.

I don't understand how people can get scared so easily in video games especially to the point in alt+f4ing it. Then again I am desensitised to a lot of **** after 3 tours of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Definitely try it again though, it really is shaping up to be something great.

The game seems OK but it feels very similar to Resident Evil 4. Given it's 15 years after that game released I'd kind of expected to see things advance a bit further as a lot of the mechanics feel very dated.

I know people complained about RE7 but at least it was brave enough to do something different after the disappointments of RE5 and RE6. This just feels like a game from 2005 with slightly better visuals to me? I say that as someone who'd played every RE game a launch since the very first one.

Personally I'll give it a miss after playing the demo.

I've just never been good with scary content, be it games or films. Films I oddly do enjoy, but will cower behind a pillow. Games just have more of an effect on me. I don't think it's about being desensitized, it's just imagination, mine runs wild and I love creepy stuff. I just gets under my skin.

Take into mind this is a remaster, not a remake. So the mechanics and core gameplay will be the same, it's just on a new engine with prettier graphics. If it were a remake like the upcoming FF7 remake, then things would be different. For example, the FF7 remake has an entirely different (within reason) combat mechanic and camera.

From my list of Resi games, what I saw in the demo I think it will take number 5 slot pushing RE0 down the list. I personally still prefer pre-rendered backgrounds and set camera angles. It just works for Resident Evil imo.

1- Resident Evil 2
2- Resident Evil
3- Resident Evil: Code Veronica
4- Resident Evil 3
5- Resident Evil 0
6- Resident Evil 7
7- Resident Evil 4
8- Resident Evil 5
9- Resident Evil: Revelations
10- Resident Evil: Revelations 2
11- Resident Evil 6

Saying that, it is hard to say just playing a demo. It could very well end up in number 1 slot. But at worse it will be still be 7th as I cannot see being worse than RE4 which took the game in the wrong direction imo.
