RM before 1pm item not delivered

I am sure that the union bosses won't be saying sorry to their kids for a disappointing array of presents due to strikes. They will be well sorted.

My mother in law received a birthday card today posted first class letter post. Her birthday was on the 4th of December.

Its the members that voted to strike. The union bosses arent striking its their job.

Wouldn't be surprised if postmen did this on purpose, my last two signed for were posted right through letterbox, first was signed by postman but second wasn't, guessing the eBay seller put in a claim for refund if they looked it up.

Had a RM24 that should have been delivered early week no longer moving.

Nothing the retailer can do yet. Apparently in in the local DO. If a RM 24 sent last week isn't here yet I don't hold out much hope for anything else in post to arrive before Christmas

What's really frustrating is I ordered something through click and collect to avoid the post issues. Couple of days later "sorry we made a stock mistake, we don't have one, but you can still order for delivery".

Yeah thanks for that.
We’re still waiting for RM24s sent in November to arrive :p

I've had a parcel stuck supposedly with RM for over a month now. Retailer says nothing unusual has happened to it besides the delay so give it another half month

Has there been any talks of continued strikes after Christmas?

From my count, they will have striked nearly 25% of working days this month, which will be quite a drop in their pay packet. IIRC the CWU doesn't pay their members for strike days? Along with several other strike days on October and November, the strikes must be costing the workers an absolute fortune. The CWU Facebook page does have comments from members highlighting that they struggling to afford things while being on strike.

With no sign of Royal Mail backing down, are strikes likely to have much of an effect after Christmas? The CWU would have almost been better off going big or go home. Rather than having individual strike days in October/November, they could have had a solid 2 week strike right on the day after Black Friday.

I believe this to be the case. A postie mate of mine was telling me a lot of his co-workers took off on sick leave so they a) wouldn’t have to cross the picket line and b) wouldn’t lose pay.

Yep. They’ve gone for maximum disruption (which I guess is their aim) but it’s taking the mick. 2 days on 2 days off in a week may as well just be 4 days off because nothing seems to get done during the non-strike days.

I've only just received some items that I ordered at the beginning of December. That's how slowly things are progressing through Royal Fail's network.

You can see public support Evaporating.

I can see what they are trying to do but if RM aren't going to give in over Christmas they aren't going to give in.

Think this was thier last shot at it. They won't get a better offer now.

RM have to compete with evri etc. I can see both sides of the argument.

My RM24 package arrived today. 7 calendar days late, 3 actual days late (4 were weekend/strike days)

Card to my parents still not delivered first class ordered Tuesday last week, I visited them over weekend so could have hand delivered it instead.

I still support the strikes.

But the strikes will keep going. Christmas wasnt the unions last shot it was RMs.

As a business owner who had a contract with DPD, I can tell you they’re one of the cheapest in terms of rates but their support and infrastructure is terrible.

FedEx are the current winners, reasonably priced and get the job done well.

As for Royal Mail, all this posturing over pay rises will be irrelevant when every business takes their money elsewhere
That is funny my dad's company switched from FedEx to DPD cause of their awful ability to complete orders and zero support. It shows how regional it can be too in terms of the key depos used.

I think I'm about to get 2 refund requests for RM items I posted.

They are almost certainly Christmas presents. They haven't moved from my local DO and were posted by tracked 48 on 12th.

I will be switching to couriers I think as I've had no issues with any couriers really (apart from odd slight late delivery)

I had issues last year as well, a bank was trying to send me a new card over xmas and new year period, I only got it the 4th time, they refused to use a courier just kept resending via RM.

The negative feedback on my eBay account has started flowing.

Amount of hassle this is going to be is not going to be fun.

I'll let ebay decide what to do on this. But will be moving to evri entirely. They've been flawless throughout

Looks like all my sends last week are still in Cardiff MC.

Fantastic.

All sent tracked 48 last Monday. I doubt any will arrive before Christmas if they haven't left Cardiff today.
Annoyance is with ebay I'm sure I'll have to give a refund and soon as I do the items will move.

I posted a Royal Mail Tracked Returns 48 on 13/12 and it's just been delivered today. Maybe I got lucky, but they could be delivered any day now.

It's not very fair on you, as a seller, as you're out of pocket on refund claims. Also the damage to your feedback is bound to influence potential buyers for the next year. :(

Apologies if I re-hash what I’ve said before but just letting you know you are not alone!
I posted a special delivery item last Tuesday that surprisingly made its way through the departing mail centre here in Northern Ireland - I say surprisingly because the previous 2 I posted took a week to even show up on the system.
Anyhow, the aforementioned item only just today arrived at the inbound mail centre. So it looks as though even special deliveries are taking a week minimum.

As for your eBay issue - I posted an item (an expensive one at that, fortunately I paid for the requisite insurance) on 26th November. Went through the motions with Royal Mail who confirmed it was lost and to file my claim. The buyer has since been refunded so I am currently £950 out of pocket.

There’s a slight further twist though. Despite the item sitting at the “we’ve got it stage” i.e. when I dropped it off at the post office for 3 weeks, it inexplicably turned up at the Heathrow Mail Centre last Thursday where it continues to languish. That’s not even the inbound mail centre for the intended recipient

Its not just RM I've just had a message that a parcel ordered for me beginning december has been "lost" by DHL and earliest delivery date is 4th January(!). It was my xmas present too.

Since covid they've given up any semblance of getting signatures for Signed For its a waste of money paying any extra for it
