Well, I'm just saying that I won't be accelerating off into the distance is all :p

Worked out a route. To the carpark where you've suggested it's just under 15 miles but some of that is along the TPT so super slow. Give me an extra ten minutes warning before you set off so I can deal with the cats and my broken legs ;)

Gave Zwift a run today - still struggling with my wrist, but sitting stationary is definitely ridable. Only did 2 laps of the current course so it was 19km with 220M elevation, definitely a decent workout on the turbo using the app I have to say, shows how much fitness I've lost recently that's for sure!

FAO Roady and anyone else who's interested in my lipstick-on-a-pig TDF...

6YALaED.jpg

Newly powdercoated in bright red, with a Claris groupset (and random Shimano long reach brakes). I'm not 100% on the whitewall tyres, so I'll go black when I wear them out, and if I can really be bothered I'll replace the silver crankset with a black one. Red and black is badass, after all.

In all likelihood, the paint job is worth more than the frame :p

Looks pretty tidy actually :p

I totally need to give my old Cotic X the same treatment one of these days. As it's been solely used as a turbo bike for so long it actually doesn't even have brakes any more...

The saddle doesn't appear to be straight?

Bummer. Mine's not playing ball yet either, it sort of decided to let go last week after I'd been out for a run. Need to see the work physio this week and decide what I have to do about it. I'm off the bike this week, in the meantime. Painful to ride in 1st gear which is 42/19, so it doesn't look like good news to me.

it's a hell isn't it?! I was pedaling in 50/32 for a week.. :| it got better after wearing one of these -;

it's very uncomfortable if you get the velcro bit to touch your skin but it did reduce the pain - oddly! I have taken it off now and it's been OK for the past week! bar a few little ouchies here and there..! have you given any of the knee straps a shot? I'm 99% sure mine are due to BMX'ing injuries but It might be a bike fit too.. the more I think about it the more I'm considering getting one.

Jonny69/grudas, have either of you tried Kiniseology tape, I know there isn't much proof it definitely works, but I have been using some recently and it certainly alleviates any pain I have had.

I wasn't but I've been doing it a lot more recently and the extra comfort of the base layer really helps. But the sky guys were raving about it on all but the hottest climbing days. Was after something a bit cheaper if I'm honest :D any other recommendations?

I would echo this. I've been using Rock Tape for about 2 years now. Its expensive for that it is but it seems to work for me.

what waterproof overshoes would you guys recommend for todays sort of weather (i.e. summer/spring)

looking on wiggle
these are on sale, and seem good ?

I use the Gore Windstopper softshell ones and they're pretty good. If the roads are wet or you're out in showers then they'll keep your feet dry and unaffected by any windchill. As mentioned though, in heavy rain no overshoe will really save you.

For winter i use the cheap planetx ones i got with a winter bundle made of neoprene or something similar. They're surprisingly durable and although your feet will get wet eventually they do a good job of keeping them warm, which is much more important.

I use the sleeveless one throughout the warmer days (all 3 of them) and would rate it.

try decathlon if you have any near by.

I have numerous ones of theseB'TWIN 300 SHORT SLEEVE CYCLING BASELAYER - WHITE

Also a couple of these for the winter time B'TWIN 300 LONGSLEEVE CYCLING BASELAYER - BLACK

Can't fault them for £7. Slightly meshy, but warm enough under a top. Work well in all conditions, never get sweaty or anything. Very impressed. Wash well and used tons of times.

seen my shoes !!!

wiggle / crc = sold out
everywhere else = sold out

£120 at wiggle (without the £15 off)
found them on sidi café, £140, add to basket, now its £120 !

ordered !

Nice shoes! They're really what I'm looking for next... But my shoe change will involve a cleat/pedal change too so need to make sure my SPD's are well worn first. I may leave it until next year (after winter) as can't remember if the Arctic GTX boots I ordered have SPD and SPD-SL or just SPD... (don't get them until my birthday).

damn, planet x is coming up with some cool designs lately..

That RT Di2 is an insane buy and you're right about their designs getting better!

What do people use for summer base layers, got some compression tops from planet x, but they're a little too warm, just want something meshy ideally, and cheap :D

I've been wearing these mesh ones for really hot/climbing/tempo rides, I'll be getting more when they're in a sale. Really wide mesh, plenty of stretch to remove - even when soaked! Very impressed, they size up ok. I'm wearing XL's and I'm usually an XL in most jerseys (L in DHB).

I wear these for other rides/commuting. They're great (amazing wicking) but don't have the stretch of the others. They seem to be wearing more (stitching coming slightly undone etc) but then again they were half the price... ;)

I'm not convinced by the 'summer base layer to keep cool' thing

I sweat buckets (always have) so my jerseys get soaked on hard rides, with a mesh base I find things far more comfortable on longer hard rides. The extra 'evaporation & mesh' principle really does work.

I haven't no, looks a bit of a hassle to be honest! I'd love to try it but I can't imagine my self putting it on every morning :o never mind my super hairy legs, can you imagine the pain?

on a different note, kinda digging my new wheels! transformed the bike for sure :o 16 spokes up front is a bit risky tho :p

Thanks Roady, those mesh sportful ones look perfect, how much have you got them for previously?

You can leave it on for 7 days at a time! Excuse for shaving your "manly" legs!

I did used to put it on for every ride. But now for smaller rides I don't tend to bother. I'll save it for longer rides. My hairy legs don't seem to affect the adhesion, and taking it off again after is fine. You need to man up :p

Haven't tried a support. I'll see what the physio says on Wednesday but it could be a plan.

Same as Grudas really, I'm not sure about the practicality. I'd be putting it on and off twice a day and I've got really hairy legs too :D

That said, it's the sort of thing I'd consider for using when I run or probably more likely if I do any longer rides, but I don't think it'll be practical for me for commuting. Where did you learn how to put it on correctly?

As above, you can leave on for 7 days, I've not left it on that long, but have had some knee stuff on for 4 days before with no problems. It's easy to apply, just follow the numerous guides on youtube!
