Road Cycling

So after finally getting my P1 pedals and using them for a month, I ask myself...how did I ever not ride with power? :D
Excellent, loving them.

Welcome to the club  now make good use of all that data!

Mine will be going back under warranty soon as after around 6,000 miles since July last year they've both developed radial play in the bearings. Not user serviceable and service centers in the UK don't have the facilities to replace them either. But fortunately I'm told they don't need to go back to the USA and that replacements are given.

Still not looking forward to what I expect is a 2-3 week turn around through the original retailer, and whilst not having power isn't the end of the world, I am trying to source a stop-gap solution for a few weeks or permanent back up ...

On a similar note saw a race convoy and the following race go by in the oncoming direction on Saturday near Chobham / M3. Spotted a few Paceline RT - were you in it @Thomas. PLease. ? There was a breakaway of two riders ~10-15s ahead at the time with two chasing groups heading up from the roundabout after going over the M3 bridge.

Just before a car overtook me pretty aggressively and the 2nd motorbike in convoy signalled for him to calm it down :D

Yes, there were a couple of races on Saturday. A 3/4 about 9.30ish and a 2/3 race kicked off in the afternoon, both had a few from Paceline. I was in the 2/3. Tough little circuit that. 17 laps up and over Staple Hill. Managed to finish 24th in the end. Was a messy race with a couple of nasty crashes. Didn't get a very good postion in the last corner so ended up passing about 30 people up the finish hill. Should have done better really but there we go.

Agreed on the wind. Tailwind out, strong enough up the climb but turned into a headwind with my jersey acting like a sail.

Got it zipped up and started to line out but I just overcooked it a little on the climb I think. I struggle to breathe when the winds so strong face on.

Back out again tomorrow night so hope the easterly wind ***** right off.

Ah nice. Must have seen yours go by as I was there early afternoon. Did see a group of 3-4 paceline heading the other direction with backpacks on somewhere nearer Longcross so I guess they were involved in the earlier race.

You must have had a tailwind up Staple Hill but I can only imagine the sharp bend to go up Staple Hill contributed to some of the crashes?

The Perfetto light is a thinner version of the Gabba (Perfetto is now called Gabba)!

I mostly chose new designs I liked (SG, Gore & Ale) followed along with those that looked like deals on the Clearance...

Do a search filter like this, then sort on Price/Discount/Best selling to spot things rather than going through page after page! ;)

Several winter/spring thermal 3/4's and tights in that price range too...

ive just found out , castelli is dropping the Gabba name for the Perfetto

Londoners! If I attempt to ride from Stratford to Canary Wharf and back on a Boris bike will I die in a horrific accident? I'm staying in Stratford tonight but fancy a meal and cinema in the evening. Any suggestions route wise?

Unfortunate timing. In just on a train heading back to Manchester. Could've joined you in your HGV adventure :p

I had to bail at the exact same point as last time, approx. mile 110 I think as I just didn’t have the power/strength/fitness/enthusiasm to continue. The route wanted me to head back into Oudenarde and then back out on another loop which would take me up Kwaremont and a few others climbs. Was in the saddle for a very long time and just lost the fun of it.
Ahhh gutted for you, no options to shortcut to just do the Kwaremont? Sounds like the drag from Antwerp in the rain really sapped your energy reserves... Miserable conditions can really do that, which is part of the 'appeal' of some of the Flandarian rides - at least watching them on TV anyway! The boring flat countryside and plain roads certainly can't help your 'wellbeing' when you're suffering already! ;)
:D

Torm need to advertise, you dont ever hear about them and you cant buy them from wiggle, CRC etc etc etc, and they are brilliant
Agreed, availability is about the only reason I don't own any!

Wow they've worn fast, are the bearings really that specialised/unique they can't be replaced at the LBS? Or all to do with the strain gauges and calibration? Just thinking if it's due to wear (or poor design?) that you'll get the same problem again? I know they revised the battery caps but has there been other developments? I've not seen different 'versions' mentioned.

I've been very lucky with my C1, thankfully not experiencing any of the battery issues that many others have. My 'issues' have been related to BB:frame clearance and periodic calibrations (although I don't calibrate every ride, couple of times a week and always before a leisure ride, I don't overly care when commuting).

Apologies, I got it totally the wrong way around! The Gabba is now called the Perfetto. I'm sure they announced it before the Gabba 3, loads of the retailers changed the names and sold all the Gabba's off discounted. Then they release the Gabba 3 and lots of Gabba 2's came back into stock too!:rolleyes:

Summer Jersey - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/altura-peloton-short-sleeve-jersey/
Soft Shell (Flu Yellow) http://www.wiggle.co.uk/gore-bike-wear-element-windstopper-softshell-jacket-1/

Also this soft shell, but i want it in Flu Yellow , not sure how this compares to the Gore) http://www.wiggle.co.uk/castelli-trasparente-3-wind-jersey/

In other news, I bought tri bars for my touring bike (I want the extra position), I was attaching them last night, and when adjusting them with an under-torqued wrench, two of the bolts snapped...

So either I'm a lot stronger than I thought and my torque wrench was not stopping my massive man power, or I was shipped crap bolts.

Oh are they not allowed then? People have offered cheaper stuff on here before baying it for years, I thought that was a reasonable part of the community.

I'm afraid not. If you were offering to send them on for free then it's the kind of thing that might have a blind eye turned to it but full on sales we can't allow unfortunately.

I'd quite like for us to be allowed but understandably the forum has to remain pc-parts focussed.

Pff, the road cycling forum is the only real reason I keep coming back.
Me too. I was well into the hardware side when I joined over 10 years ago but now I have no knowledge of CPUs beyond Athlon64 and early Core2Duos. :p
I only read GD now with the occasional flick through the programming forum.
