Rome 2 : Total War

Some dirty barbarian scumbag champion rolled up to my army of 2500 men and 'manipulated' (?) them into staying put for two years?

I mean really?

So much wrong with this game. Every time I play this I come just a little but closer to reinstalling MTW2.

Everytime I come in this thread and read the last few posts I just get really sad.

Looks like this is a game I will not be purchasing until it hits the bargain bucket (i.e. circa £6).

Shame because I was really looking forward to it.

Don't waste you money yet mate. This game will be great once CA get out the way, and a real overhaul mod like RTR is released.

It's hopeless as it is. The AI is totally brain-dead.

FWIW I've been playing a lot more since Patch 2 and I'm really enjoying myself! Not noticed anything terrible since the patch; runs fine with little-no slowdown (only when there's HUGE amount of troops) turn times have increased and not really noticed anything going wrong.
Sure the AI is still thick but it always was lol.
Looking forward to further patches as for me they can only improve, as opposed to fix, the game.

Not been in this thread for weeks and Jono is still banging on about it.... Anyone would think he would have moved on by now but no.... got to give him some points for persistence.

Also I do have to state, Not everyone is having performance issues at all, One of my best mates runs this perfectly on ultra with no slow down what so ever.

That's a very sad thing to read :(

There's no challenge, so many elements are missing, so much doesn't work, it is nothing like the game they promised, if you're expecting the game you see in those videos, like the taking of Carthage or the Teutoburg Forest, forget it.

They've patched bits and bobs, but the guts of have been ripped out the game. If you go back a page or two there's a long direct quote from head of studio, that's really all you need to know.

Essentially they have taken our pre-order money and stuck two fingers up.

We all should have seen it coming with 'free' day 1 DLC. Mugs!

This is the first TW game I have ever played so I'm not sure what previous AI were like. But I have noticed some seriously retarded things in this.

1) I went into a battle against 2 armies. Collectively I would have got wiped out. But instead I distracted the 2nd army with a cavalry unit and watched with amusement as they all chased them round the map while I dealt with the 1st army.

2) AI defending a settlement. I have a habit of charging up all my ranged units and battering them endlessly. Usually until I run out of ammo, then cleaning up with melee. The AI just stands there and takes it. Occasionally swapping out the unit at the front line getting hit for another. But they never attack. They just stand in their line guarding the stupid CP.

That's a pretty typical experience, absolutely hopeless. The CP's were put in so the AI had some idea where to run to.

I'm sorry, i thought this was the thread within which to discuss Rome 2 Total War. :p

Suffering from big slow downs on the battle map, especially if its a big battle.

Don't be silly, there is no issues with performance in this game with high end computers. Don't let published benchmarks by tech sites fool you, and don't let the huge amounts of threads on the official forum fool you either :p

But yeh, the game is broken in its CPU/GPU utilization.

I think I can sum it up for you:

Jono8 hates the fact Rome 2 runs like crap. Some people are satisfied with its performance, but he thinks they're lying, because satisfaction isn't subjective. Spils knows someone who works for CA and he's grumpy anyway. The two of them are arguing about patches and settings and how many tiny characters can appear on a screen in a video game.

I'm just trying to be really sarcastic but there might be a point somewhere in my ramblings.

We have space for a teenage whiner, a socially-awkward LARP-er and a keyboard warrior.

Lol, Pookie summed it up brilliant.:D I do see why people hate pc gamers so much. specially in situations like this, the nerd read and see's what he wants then exploded when it doesn't agree with his pretty graphs and statements. I'll get back to enjoying my game, you lot can argue like "plebs"

I have never understood how people can, in all good mind and consciousness, take part in a discussion on an internet forum and then proceed to call people nerds and exclaim that there is more important things in life/get out more e.t.c

Seriously, it is hilarious.

I can't believe this much fuss is being made over FPS.

It's a game, stop counting stupid little numbers and play the thing, it may not be great but damn it it's playable.

Seriously sick of the conversation now, this was a good thread where people were raising valid points a week or so ago, now no one wants to bother because of the arguing
