Rome 2 : Total War

how many of these culture packs they plan on releasing??

cant stand the DLC approach in recent total war games.

still bemused that they charged £1 for blood and gore.!!!!

I feel the same way.
They should keep as much in the vanilla game as possible, and if they really must add more later on then do it via full expansions

That blood pack for example could easily have been an On/Off options toggle.

Devs are always in such a rush to release ASAP rather than a full game that they're 100% happy with. Stupid profit margins >_> *pout

I can remember when Amazon had Arma II: Combined Operations on sale for something like $16/£10, and it turned out that Bohemia the developers and publishers got something like 8 cents per copy, I'm not sure if that's just a one off where BiS somehow got themselves completely screwed by whoever suggested to do it, but I try and avoid Amazon now for games. Bleurgh.

Most developers are in the situation of getting either very little back or not even earning a single penny back from the games they make. This is because they have to pay back the publishers investment first that allowed them to make the game, which they do from their tiny percent of the royalties. So more often than not they don't actually pay the investment back at all, whilst the much larger cut the publishers are taking from sales has earned them several times more than the initial investment so they aren't too concerned... but they now have a developer that has earned millions for them in a position where they now need another investment from them to create a new game.

I know, but there was no publisher to pay with Bohemia, Amazon genuinely had some kind of arrangement that got them $15.80c of the $16 in profit, and after IET the 0.20c become 0.08c, that was less than 0.05% of the sale or something. I have no idea if they take that kind of barbaric cut from every digital game they sell but I'll steer well clear of them. At least with Steam, the publisher and developer get 70+ % of the profit even if the game is on sale at 20 pence.

Looking forward to this, last TW game I played regularly was Medieval II and it's expansion so it's been a while. Will defo be buying a boxed copy, one thing I don't like about digital is it doesn't feel like I own the game lol it might sound stupid but I like to add to my collection of game boxes. Plus £45 is a bit much, hate paying more than £30-35 for a PC game.
