Rome 2 : Total War

lol it's worse than I expected. Seems like such a let down. :( I know with mods it will improve, but why oy why can't the devs listen in the first place. Rome Total Realism was absolutely epic, as was the mod for Medieval 2. They were just amazing. But surely the games should offer this kind of thing at release... Very disappointed, but not at all surprised.

What? they have got rid of gaurd and the ability to chase down fleeing enemies?

WHAT!

I thought it was insane too! I spent ages in my first battle looking around for a 'guard' setting and then when the battle was over I went to chase down the hundreds of enemies and it ended the battle!

"Let them go home and spread word of our victory" (or something similar).
F-That!! I WANT TO SLAUGHTER THEM SO THEY DON'T REGROUP LATER!

with all the money they've conned out of people since 2009, they need to get hold of the frostbite engine or crytek.

they know how to use CPU

You can chase down enemies. Are you still on the prologue or something?

The removal of the manoeuvring buttons is annoying but the keyboard shortcuts are still there.

Are the frame rates in the benchmark representative of the game?

I havent had a change to start a campaign yet, but was getting average of 22fps in the benchmark.

The combo of 2560 x 1440 res with a 7850 doesn't seem to be up to scratch for this game. What graphics settings should I be dropping first?

The only battles I'd fought where I hadn't wiped out the enemy completely were on the prologue.

I've just started the campaign and only had a couple of small skirmishes so far.

Sorry for misleading people in that case. :)

Gutted by the standard of this at the moment, such a drop in quality from previous efforts. I am such a fan of total war (its pretty much the only PC game I play).

The campaign map is reasonably fun (or would be if not for absolutely shocking performance issues) but the battles are appalling at this stage.

Shogun 2 looked infinitely better, and ran infinitely better. I can't get my game to look anything like the gameplay previews from CA. Worse than that though is the morale and balance seems way off. Units running around all over the shop and the battles lasting seconds once the forces engage.

I'm sure it can all be fixed, just annoying having to wait a few months for a good experience. I see the desync issues are back with multiplayer campaigns too, after all the patches on shogun 2 for that issue I had hoped it would be put to bed.

Very frustrating, it has the potential to be brilliant. Just not there at the moment.

I've still not received the game from Amazon, let alone the dlc. I'm starting to think it has been "lost" in Royal Mail's system

Im the same here in Ireland, An Post for me.
But saying that been 2 working days, so should be here tomorrow,
after that will complain.

Already asked about the DLC, all should be sent within 48 hours of the game's release via email.
After that, contact them, and they will send out a code for you (thats on my query)

I have the game sitting here in cellophane un-opened at the moment and considering whether it should stay that was and I return it, with all the hassle that entails (going into town/ visiting post office etc).

I have dabbled with the TW war series and own Rome (free gift recently) and Shogun 2 (Steam sale). I have also owned Med TW2 and sold it (criminal act I appreciate that now), but still consider myself a noob as I have never been able to get into them.

I was hoping the get into Rome 2, but now I am thinking that I should re-apply my attention to TW:S2. What do you guys think?

I've got the same feeling I got with Empire.

In that case the battles were mostly okay but the campaign map was too messy and ruined it for me. Now with Rome 2 I like the map and the battles are wasting it a bit.

I said I wouldn't buy another Total War after Empire because instead of fixing it they just left it and released Napoleon but Shogun 2 made me think it'd be different this time.

Turns out not so much. :(

That's why it's always best to buy games that are poor on release in sales, wait a few months after patching/mods, buy it for less and have a better experience.

It sounds like they haven't listened to customer feedback at all :( The biggest gripe going back years was the scope of the battles and the speed they ran at. It was only the modifications that solved this issue. Why the devs can't do it I don't know. Seriously, how on earth can they release something like this and think it is acceptable? I've not seen one positive comment out of hundreds about the battles. Everyone is moaning. I'd class myself as a huge TW fan but the vanilla product has ALWAYS been a massive let down.
