Rooney - 2 B Sold

I find it funny that Evra and Vidic are Man Utd's best players, and are two of their cheapest players. :p

Thus proving that Rooney is wrong and Sir Alex doesnt need to spend huge amounts of money all the time to get world class players. :)

He hasn't asked for huge amounts of money to be spent, he's asked for the team to bring in quality regardless of money. Look at everyone in the squad forward of the back 4. Does anyone honestly think they are worthy of playing in the united team considering the teams they have had the last 15 years.

This is the worst set of players I've seen since Brian Mclair played for the side.

I said earlier in the thread, all it does is highlight the job Wenger does at Arsenal with keeping them semi-competitive while spending very little money (in relation to the "big" teams).

or proving that out of 67 players signed for over 200million 2 are a sucess!* yay!

*made up numbers but if you look at our Manucho in and out list you would get the gist pretty quickly.

You noshing him off for this inside info?

This worst group of players finished 1 point off top spot. Doomed!

But you rarely say much of worth about united and have spent the last few years pretending you could manage the club better than ferguson. Depressing situation for all the other clubs if the one man could drag all that dross to second. Nonsense and disrespectful.

no.

lets stop this badger baiting. it just wont work. why dont you comment on the comments ive made in this thread than whatever has been said before. the numbers will back me up and not you but i dont care to carry that on into here. why not stick to the relevant comments to this thread:

Do you deny that Rooney almost singlehandedly dragged us into 2nd place with his best ever season for the club?

To be fair I think that papers over some cracks, last season there were quite a few games where Rooney carried United to the win by himself, there were a fair amount of games where the only difference between United and xxxxx team was Rooney. United hardly have a poor set of players but there are probably a few more average faces than has been seen for a while. But that's only because Utd's standards have been so high recently, it's still far from a poor squad and still easily able to compete regardless, as Ferguson is the one sending them out to play. But I do think that Rooney and Ferguson did carry Utd a little last season.

You guys saw Ian Holloway's take on the matter? It was just on Sky Sports News. He was absolutely spot on. Player power has gotten too big and Rooney is basically just having a massive strop and irritating the hell out of everyone. United paid millions for him and this is what they get.

I don't know if it's player power, he's just not signing a contract, he has every right in the world to not sign a contract, he did tell Man Utd this 2 years before his current one expired. Yes his motives are questionnable and that's the thing that stinks, but I don't think it's fair to expect every player to always renew contracts with any given club.

Look at Fabregas, he wanted to go to Barcelona, they didn't stump up enough cash, he didn't go, now he's still playing for Arsenal and still giving 100%, the fact that Rooney is a classless, unintelligent chav has contributed to this hugely. Had he not been so much of a scummer this would have gone much smoother than it has.

Yeah I saw it, do love Ian Holloway more and more every time i see him.

Yep, was Rooney our best player last season? certainly. Did he drag us to it single handedly? Did he hell.

I'm on my phone but have you not also said in two separate posts 'we don't get top players anymore' followed later when someone praised ferguson's man management 'but anyone could finish near top with the value of talent on the pitch'? I'll have a look back in a second to confirm that.

pls do. yes we have signed a lot of expensive 2nd best players... but never the absolute BEST player in that position, we let them all go to chelsea or real madrid. hence we finished 2nd to a superior team. but still managed to spend a bucket load more than the next best team (say arsenal).

ill give you an example.

who spends 56 million on 3 central midfielders? errr man utd... Carrick, Hardcheese and Anderson.

no other team in the premiership has spent this much on central midfielders, except chelsea, and man city.

yet our central midfield is worse than both chelseas and cities (concentrating on purchased players NOT scholes who was created some 20 years ago in teh old trafford laboratory as a cross between nicky butt and god).

so yes having spent more on players than everyone else in the premiership, except the team who finished above us and city, id expect us to challenge for the title. and whilst these midfielders might get into anyone elses midfield, they arent even no1 choice for their country (infact id say carrick is 5th choice for england) and anderson s probably 4-6th choice for brazil...

carrick would barely warm the bench at chelsea and same with city...true or lies? and he is the best of our signed central midfielders...so

I think you actually described the Valencia year as 'a bunch of nobodies' so Ferguson's an average man manager (implicit) who's signed a bunch nobodies...

The absolute best player in each position? When is the last time we signed the absolute BEST player in each position then? What a football manager generation point of view.

Inside info no, everyone else is speculating as to what they think Rooney has asked for in a negative way, yet you don't have a problem with that. People are speculating that he has asked for millions to be spent on players.

Where's their inside info on that.

I get you want to hate on him, I've been there.

1 point off the top, so what. Liverpool almost won the league and the very next season dropped out the top 4.

Just about every united fan on here has slagged off the team and lack of decent players with players moving on. Yet one player says it and all of a sudden there's this massive rush of disgust at a player that has spoken up about lack of ambition.

Gotten too big? Again this has never been an issue for united fans until you became a feeder club like the rest of us. Player power has been huge since the bosman ruling.

Player power wasn't too big when you got Rooney away from Everton by offering a bag of gold and it wasn't too big when you decided you wanted Saha, Carrick Hargreaves and Berbatov.

Boo ******* hoo, united paid millions for him. As keane says players are a pice of meat to clubs like united, when they are done with their services they are just as happy to dump on them. You have had your worth out of him and if smart won't lose any money on him.

You will then go and wave 20 million at an Arteta (for example) and not complain about player power when he puts in a transfer request.

Dannyjo I've read that again and while I disagree strongly with you (and will expand when I get home) I still wa quite rude so for that I apologise.
