Rooney - 2 B Sold

This is just getting silly now from Man Utd fans, its a game of football, a sport.

Man Utd signed Owen, probably the worst team he could sign for but thats ok but Rooney cant leave for Man City
 
u dont think its a different case at all, owen to UTD and rooney to city?

given that owen was actively sold to madrid, went to newcastle and spend 6 years roughly inbetween before going to UTD? liverpool didnt want him. so its not like he betrayed liverpool to seek his fortune in manchester...

Wheras rooney going directly to city in his 'peak' years after running down his contract? its a completely different kettle of fish, im surprised you even thought it noteworthy.

Gallas went to Spurs on a free this summer, not a word has been said, he's been to Chelsea too. Maybe Man Utd fans are taking this a little too personally

It's a different case in my eyes, Owen had been in relative obscurity for a very long time (went down with Newcastle just before being signed for United) whereas Rooney is still big news and still considered to be one of the best English strikers despite recent performance woes.

The big difference is that Owen is a spent force and he's long past his prime. He's not an England player, he's not a big shot celebrity or a brand.

Gallas was not wanted by Arsenal so I don't think anyone cared. Same for Owen, Liverpool find his surplus to their requirements whereas United never not wanted Rooney so I can understand the annoyance from the fans.
 
Gallas was Arsenal's best defender in the two seasons before he left. I think he was still wanted. I'd go as far as to say he was in the top 3 or 5 players at the club in both seasons too.

that did not happen with own.

personally im not too bothed if he does go to city. as long as we get a decent payout. if he goes elsewhere like madrid id be happier still though. but to imply that this is similar t michael own is maddness really. as the circumstances are completely different.

i dont recall owen coming out after 10 games demanding he be sold, knowing he cant move till january, and that his contract was up the next year,
 
Clearly Mancs are going to be ****ed off with their best player joining their local rivals but there's no excuse for death threats.

IINM didn't Ferdinand get similar abuse when he stalled over a new contract some years back?
 
Yep just confirmed by SSN...Rooney staying at Man Utd, signing a new contract and staying till June 2015.

Quite surprised that hes done a u turn now after everything hes said.
 
Like I guessed yesterday, Utd no doubt made a last ditch offer to him; whether that is more money or given him some sort of assurances.

edit: Now all the Mancs can be angry with Rooney, the money grabbing fat scouser ;)
