RTX 4070 12GB, is it Worth it?

Any coil whine? I got the MSI Ventus for the other half and the coil whine is atrocious, waiting to hear back from OCUK whether I can get a replacement.
I'll let you know tomorrow when it arrives. Was also looking at the Ventus but wanted a metal backplate.

The only dGPUs which seem OK value are the RX6600/A750 when they are around £230ish and the odd RX6700XT deal when its closer to £300. After that the price/performance seems to go out of whack.
According to TPU 6700xt is less than 10% in raster ahead of my 2080, so not much value in that. A worthwhile option would be a 6800xt from AMD, but vs. 4070 it only has the extra 4GB vRAM, while being equal or weaker with everything else (I think I can get the 4070 a bit cheaper).
Then, of course, both a ripoff in terms of pricing at this point so... no buy.

Lucky enough, tried TLOU and Hogwarts, both run decent still in Surround, so let the waiting game continue.

For newer buyers its relatively OK,as your RTX2080 was £700 IIRC,and its half the price with more VRAM.So if you are upgrading from a slower card its OK.

But the issue is if you have anything better there is no decent value option to upgrade to.

So it looks like to me the best Nvidia card of the 4000 series is the 4070.

If its anything like my 3080 which from benchmarks it is then it will be a stellar card for 1440p gaming.

Add in DLSS 3 and it will be a fantastic card.

There is very little my 3080 cant do at 1440p other than being let down by having only 10Gb vram.

The 4070ti imo has no place. Why pay so much money for a gpu with only 12Gb of vram. Waste of money.

The 4080 and 4090 are only warranted at 4k due to the extortionate pricing.

I am on a 1070 and the 4070 does call out to me and holding myself back as hoping there may be something better for my money or prices drop.

Best from a selection of turds , what a sad state we're in should be 60 tier card at lower cost so yeah doesn't make me feel any better about it

If you are happy buying a x60 class card for more money than the previous gen x70 sure... unfortunately for some people it might be their only option if they need an upgrade or need a GPU :s

An RX6700XT is around twice the speed of a GTX1070 8GB with 50% more VRAM. They have gone below £350 several times if you shop around. The lowest I have seen is £330ish.

The RTX4070 12GB is 42% faster than an RX6700XT at 69% more money. So thanks to Nvidia, the RX6700XT might have dropped below £300,but as the RTX3060 is the same price, and is massively slower the price drops have slowed down.

It's 44% faster than an RTX3060TI FE for 60% more money. Turing all over again. It's literally the RTX3060 replacement. This whole generation is a joke from both Nvidia and AMD.

Not sure I would switch cards tbh, although I agree with one of your statements. The chart above makes it pretty clear its a sku lower yet a tier higher in price!

All I'm saying is that if the 4070 performs like a 3080 then for 1440p gaming it will be a decent card.

Plus access to DLSS 3.

Prices are reasonable compared to the rest of the line-up.

4070ti seems like an odd card. Because it has no where near enough vram for a card of that price in 2023.

A card you could have had 2+ years ago for not much more (at times when the price was closer to MSRP) than the 4070 is now... it is only nVidia brainwashing making it seem half reasonable.

I cannot tell if this is serious or a wind up?....

Only if you had fast fingers to order within the 30 seconds before it was sold out.

Looks like someone's been conditioned, you do realise this should be 60 tier product , they pushed tier up and DLSS 3 fake frames making you think you getting more

I don't have an issue with DLSS 3 I have issues with the tier placing and pricing

Being shafted twice not only jumping up a tier but also insulting you by increasing the price on that tier lmao
