RTX 4070 12GB, is it Worth it?

It's a frame smoothing/motion blur technique not frame gen. It's not really a game changer like DLSS 2 upscaling was.
Have you used it.? it actually reduces motion blur as it gives you 2x the framerate and it is called frame generation in games.

Frame rate is still the same, it just creates the illusion of an extra frame to reduce judder. If they inserted a frame of dog poo you could technically say it generates a new frame, doesn't mean it would be any good though.

illusion or not it increases fluidity and reduces motion blur of a display.
I will ask again have you tried it yourself..?

I have a 40 series GPU but haven't bothered trying it, I've seen in-depth analysis and already know it's not worthwhile for me due to the artifacts and input lag.

It won't hurt to try it then.
If the framerate is relatively high you will not see any artifacts (depending on a game as some have messed up hud) and if you are not playing competitively the increased input lag might not bother you as much as you think it will. ;)
If you are playing cyberpunk you have to try it.

Haha. Although I somewhat agree. It is too funny coming from you Raven

When PCMR started decades ago, people were overclocking, modding, unlocking cores, etc to increase value for themselves. They didn't give two ***** about the poor PC parts company making less money which all this did. Some of those "companies are not charities" lines came from marketing accounts who were on forums over a decade, who got found out and eventually banned! They got banned because forums like OcUK,etc got up and told them do one! Rollo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Various people on here repeat the same lines for Intel, for AMD,for Apple, etc. Who gives a flying fig? These are pieces of tech which need to do a job at a specific price. If they don't no amount of "selling a lifestyle" will make it better.

Consumers don't exist to prop up companies either. If people are so obssessed about "companies not being charities" then you would never ask for a pay rise at work,or expect to be paid more. Using that logic, being paid more reduces "company margins" and you should just deal with it or get another job?

The same goes with everyone complaining about energy prices and medical costs. If "companies are not charities" then everyone should accept the massive profiteering in the energy sector or accept US level healthcare with the costs, even if it kills you. The government should just let the consumer bare the whole cost, and say "companies are not charities".If "companies are not charities" then don't moan when insurance companies won't pay out a claim,as it reduces their margins.

You can't have this cognitive dissonance that some sectors are "allowed" to do X because they are private and others are not allowed to "Y" because it affects you more. Because if one sector is allowed to do what it wants,so will the other sector. It's basic capitalism.

But none of us as individuals in a capitalist society by extension exist to prop up any company, especially strategically irrelevant companies(in a European sense) like Nvidia.

Nvidia contributes very little in taxes or jobs to the UK or most of Europe. Intel and AMD have created more jobs in Europe over the last few decades, because they had fabs:

The €68 billion investment of U.S. tech giant Intel into a new microchips manufacturing site in the German city of Magdeburg could be Europe’s single largest foreign investment to date — but it's too early to claim this means Europe’s industrial policy on chips is a hit.

12GB required for 1440P. 16GB for 4K

Unreal Engine 5 does not mess about, its a next gen engine and there are A LOT of games coming out on it in the next couple of years.
It still requireres a powerful GPU. 6800xt is still only a 1440p@60 low/medium with its 16GB. vRAM is meaningless without horsepower.

Thats the issue this time around where you have to pay £1200 for Nvidia to get next gen performance, everything under that is last gen and will not hold up well in the next gen games going forward.

The RTX3080TI in all metrics is faster than an RX6800XT,so if the RX6800XT is matching it then does indicate there is an issue there. It might be that UE5 works better on RDNA2 than Ampere, which would be a reversal of UE4 for sure. Or it could be the engine likes more VRAM. Things such as Lumen, etc might actually have hidden costs we will start to see.

I think we need to see actual game performance before jumping to conclusions.

Performance between the 4070 and 4070Ti is the same as the difference between the 3070 and 3090, that's just absolutely horriffic and damning to Nvidia

Their whole naming scheme is weird.

A Ti version of the same number card should only be about 10% faster otherwise just call it a different model number.

The 3060 and 3060ti was another example of that stupidity too.

3070 to 3070ti and 3080 to 3080ti sort of made sense.
