So J2C who has a fondness for Nvidia, and gets a free RTX4070 from Nvidia isn't happy?

Doesn't he realise Nvidia isn't a charity? How ungrateful!

He's an idiot. All of ada lineup is voltage limited from the 4070 to the 4090, you will max get a few 100mhz out of them And he's upset he can't get 4070ti performance out of it with an OC  Suppose he has to post some nonsense for clicks.

Yep, got the MSI Ventus for the other half, very bad coil whine, sent back to OCUK. Shame as it was a nice card otherwise. Went for it because the fans are so loud on her existing card - she says she prefers that to the coil whine!
Probably best you did as according to this review it seems to have cooling issues on its vrams.

At the USA microcenter they are giving a $100 steam gift card with every 40 series purchase. Basically $100 off any 40 series..

They are selling so well... NOT...

Nvidia really messed up this time and it's so clear to see everywhere in the world now.

Good news for our cousins across the pond who want a Steam Deck or an Index!

Got to be painful when even in the US that have better unit prices have to discount so early in a launch.

He's being putting out a lot of extra stupid videos in recent months

While you're right, and to be fair he's not alone in the stupid videos, tech channels, especially pc orientated, are likely struggling for 'new' content at the minute.... think about it, there's not exactly much happening at the minute and it's partly because we're still feeling the effects of component shortages, throw in less 'free money' due to inflation etc and companies basically delaying stuff.

You can only build a pc so many times before people switch off, you can only review the same things in different ways so many times and if you don't have anything new to review/show off etc then you're going to be a bit stuck....so 'stupid videos' just about on topic seem to be the fix for channels with narrow scopes of content.

Their whole naming scheme is weird.

A Ti version of the same number card should only be about 10% faster otherwise just call it a different model number.

The 3060 and 3060ti was another example of that stupidity too.

3070 to 3070ti and 3080 to 3080ti sort of made sense.
I think the original plan was to have the 4080 12gb instead of the 4070ti then the 4070 gap would have seemed more justified, they could have then dropped a 4070ti in that gap down the line with like 6500 cuda cores if AMD came out with anything decent. They still might do that with a super.

Thats the issue this time around where you have to pay £1200 for Nvidia to get next gen performance, everything under that is last gen and will not hold up well in the next gen games going forward.
4070 is also next gen coming from an older product, same for 7900xt from amd, or not that much if you're coming from a newer product. There's a lot of "spin" you can give to each card.
However, like I'll write below, without actual next gen games (that do look the part), is still too early to say how things will be.
The RTX3080TI in all metrics is faster than an RX6800XT,so if the RX6800XT is matching it then does indicate there is an issue there. It might be that UE5 works better on RDNA2 than Ampere, which would be a reversal of UE4 for sure. Or it could be the engine likes more VRAM. Things such as Lumen, etc might actually have hidden costs we will start to see.

I think we need to see actual game performance before jumping to conclusions.
Also is 5700XT vs. 2080 Super 6800xt vs. 3080ti.
Unless UE5 heavily favors AMD something could be fishy.

Anyway, at lest next gen games will be coming out (finally), so that's something.
