I don't understand why people are making surprised Panda faces. We have been here before. Turing.

Have people already forgotten the last Crypto surge when Pascal prices skyrocketed too? Then Nvidia made a load of dGPUs for mining, then implied it was gaming demand. Then they got fined by the SEC:

The lo and behold they had tons of excess Pascal inventory:

Then Turing comes along at its relatively inflated prices. Nvidia barely had to price reduce its Pascal cards to clear them out because Turing was such poor value. But it appears, that the launch of Navi and maybe declining sales did force them to force them to refresh the entire range. But even with Navi,AMD rebadged the RX690 as the RX5700XT and probably increased the price too.

This time because cryptominers and the FOMO crowd had to buy at massively above RRP,Nvidia probably thinks even "discounting" the Ampere cards back to RRP is not needed. They probably believe PCMR is so weak willed they will just continue to pay the same inflated pricing. So its Turing again, but on steroids.

When we have a situation like this:

RX 6750XT: £410
RTX 3070: £490

What is the Internet's view on that? I've seen it said so many times, its worth more because RT / DLSS.

Also...

A770 8GB: £280
RX 6650XT: £270

But XESS? No come on why should i buy the A770 instead of the RX 6650XT?

The RX6700XT is frequently at £350ish.

It was for "misfiling" their reports to the SEC. Do you want to know how stupid this fine was? AMD didn't get fined because they had a line in their reports to the SEC saying basically that Crypto currency was volatile. Nvidia didn't. Since then Nvidia have one line in their reports saying that.

Basically it was a money grab by the SEC. The SEC is a corrupt as hell.

Considering we used to list up to 45 separate 3060Ti and around 50 3060's were now actually in a state of not having loads only having 7 separate 3060Ti SKU's in low amounts of stock and 11 separate 3060 SKU's again in low stock amounts. So though it looks loads to you, to me were at a fraction of where we used to be when these were new high demand products as I am now running these parts down so when new products come we have no surplus stock to worry about or have to shift at considerable losses to ourselves. :)

It's a lot across the market, for cards nvidia want to replace at some point.

How much is left in the supply chain?

It looks like nvidia have largely cleared out GA102 cards.

The used market is bizarre at the moment. Often see used cards for more than new. Sooner or later these people are going to have to realise their losses. Any drop in prices will, or should, affect used prices.

Interesting video on VRAM.

What I found hilarious after I tested hogwarts, a known game for being a vram hog, is that DLSS Q + Textures High looks better than both FSR Q + Textures Ultra and native + Textures ultra. Long story short, 8gb nvidia users have better IQ than people that don't have nvidia cards, regardless of the vram at their disposal. LMAO

What changes is COVID and crypto

Yeh i know. That was my point.

Although it was almost entirely crypto.

They were literally money printers. The 3060ti and above could make their cost back in a couple of months if bought at rrp.

Anyone who says the GPU prices/supply was largely to do with anything other than mining is either ignorant or lying.

What i was getting at is that something is causing the GPU manufacturers to be nonsensical.

You see its because Intel do (DLSS) second best that you're promoting them, they have nothing else going for them... you're using Nvidia's marketing feature to try and promote something that isn't Nvidia, so Nvidia win.
How the heck is DLSS a marketing feature? It blows my mind. DLSS allows you to buy a 1080p card and play with better image quality than native 1440p, with everything that that entails (low power consumption for example). It allows you (and I did) to play new games maxed out with RT on last gen mid range cards. I just finished hogwarts, a notoriously GPU heavy game at ultrawide 1440p (3440x1440) on a 3060ti, only textures were set to high and everything else on ultra.. That wouldn't be even close to possible without upscaling

Stop trying to get me to react to your nonsense @Bencher
I did read post #2,535 and its an obvious troll grenade.
