RTX 4070 12GB, is it Worth it?

I think my last AMD one was the X570 was it. called?.
RX570.? if so that was my last AMD GPU as well.
I bought it for £60 from Facebook marketplace just to have HDMI 2.0 out in my HTPC.
Sold it somewhere in the middle of mining craze to my mate for £50 but could get probably 3x that if I have put it on eBay.
He is still using it with his i5 2500K that he never overclocked lol.

I'm no business exec but even if Nvidia are happy with the sales of these cards at these prices all the bad feelings towards them can't be good for the company in the long run. Since the release of the 4000 series there's been nothing but negative talk about them. Maybe they don't care, maybe they don't need to care.
As soon as you find out that the DIY PC market is a tiny fraction of the overall computer market then it will all fall into place. The truth is that too few people actually buy a GPU by itself, and of those only a minority care/know about these shenanigans, then even fewer still will be so outraged (for the lack of a better word) so as to not buy from Nvidia. Plus the actual growth potential is AI-related, not so much selling to gamers anymore, so in fact making the GPUs too affordable might be self-defeating because the AI people can make use of them just as well and for more money (this is also a BIG reason as to why NV in particular is so stingy with vram; it's really useful for ML). So why allocate or price things for gamers? Doesn't really make sense.

So I'd say they don't need to care. Sadly.

RTX 4070 12GB may cost £750, is it Worth it?

No it ain't. Not for Nvidia. I still remember the outrage people had about their GTX 970's vram issue. What did they do, get a refund, add a lot more on top and bought a 980. Yep, that will teach them!

It did teach them... how you can use a **** product to get people to pay even more :s

Moores Law is Dead is reporting the 13th April release of the RTX 4070 with a price of £750.

Would you buy a RTX 4070 at £750?

Personally no, might as well buy a 4070 Ti for £50 more, if can find it at that price, or just buy a 7900XT.
Only if I could sell my existing GPU for an inflated price to keep the net cost low.

Heck just look at Tommy, perfect example, cries about Nvidia and how they are evil for skimping on vram and how this awful practice by Nvidia is causing him issues in all these games yet he keeps buying green :p :D
Must be a masochist or something

Do you two have to keep digging this up at every opportunity?

I'd hate to see another thread closed over the vram argument

You know what.... i know this is an Nvidia thread but this is too stupid to ignore.

If its $750 this is the better GPU, it will be 20%+ better in raster, and the same if not slightly better in RT, Nvidia's pricing in this segment is so bad they have lost the RT argument entirely, its no better than AMD on similar priced cards.

£800

Nvidia are making THAT ^^^^ look good, #### me....

You are not wrong but Nv will manipulate their slides to show how much faster it is in the 1 game where DLSS 3 works well and compare it to non DLSS 3070 so they can showcase x3 performance where in fact it is barely 50% faster for 50% more money.

Nv obviously have their sale strategy mapped out and maybe they think that the gamers on 1060s and 2060s have to eventually upgrade and pay their over inflated profiteering prices.
If AMD were clever they should launch the 7800xt (or whatever they call the next card down in their tier list) at £500 and make bank. If they care about market share they could snatch 20% back with a well priced product and make friends with the new 4870 for this generation. Unlikely to happen because AMD are adopting their own special pricing strategy and that confuses me as well, it is almost as if they do not want to sell gpus.

Is the rtx4070 worth the rumoured £750... not in the slightest, hell the 4070ti and maybe even the 4080 shouldn't even cost that...

The worst thing is though is that there will be people out there that will be stupid enough to pay it and Jenson will just keep swimming in his pool filled with cash, just like Scrooge McDuck.

I don't know about $500. Which would be nice but i can't see it, unfortunately. Its a bit like Junior Doctors asking for a 35% pay rise, not going to happen.

The 7900XT has unofficially dropped to $800, because, well, it would sell at its stupid $900 price.

With that the 7800XT can't be more than $700, the 6800XT was $649 and that was a decent price.

No disrespect to you, but the constant amount of 'banter' I'd call it gaslighting I received from those two about hating Nvidia that much about vram yada yada-all I ever stated and enforced(as proven by others here) was that the 10Gb 3080 100% DID run out of vram on select titles/ other titles struggling because it wasn't enough for the gpu grunt when it clearly did have enough grunt to use another 2 GB.

You can look over those threads and see I stated over and over again that my 3080 FE was THE best card @£650 money could buy as I always play within settings to suit 10Gb.

I didn't get the 12Gb enough thread closed, that was down to others and wasn't impressed with the mod comment of 'Creating troll threads is as bad as posting rubbish and will lead to access removed from this section'

12GB vram enough for 4K? Discuss.. thread was and still is a valid point!

Thanks for noticing and listening.:)
