Russell Brand.

Sorry, but you are a poor deluded fool. Wars are fought, innocents die, one side 'wins' and the survivors get on with their lives. On the grand scale, nature and humanity doesnt give a toss who wins. Neither you, nor I, have any idea what would have happened in the aftermath of german imperialism.

Also, Germany, and some of her allies, were also in europe.

No we don't you are right. But if Germany had hold of Europe by the time Hitler came onto the scene it could have been a lot worse for the 'non-aryan races'...

Still, RB is having a rant about an advert because it gets people to shop at their store whilst taking advantage of a 'mythical event'.

Oh and well played with the opening insult.

Ignoring the fact that most people here (other than me and a couple of others) hate the guy, his views are much in line with mine and I like the way he chats about the Sainsburys Christmas Ad seen here

I find him a far more interesting celebrity than the likes of One Direction, or Cheryl Cole etc.

Jesus that video is painful. Sainsburys ad is the same as any other xmas ad, it's a time for family, put conflict behind you for a day, share the day together, blah blah blah. Every single other thing he says is a pretentious pile of ****.

It's disgraceful that when wanting an ad to put across that message you chose one of the most fundamental moments that encapsulates that message that we know of in our history, where two sides in a brutal war against each other also put that aside for one day to come together. Everything else he says is painful. The ad isn't painful, his pretentious insisting on reading more into it than there is rant is the painful part.

Then banging on about an ad trying to be manipulative and not trying to be a beacon for good in the world. Really, so every ad ever made for his films or his shows that have one intention, to sell a product, is fine but Sainburys made an advert and it's disgusting if it's not trying to sell world peace instead of their own products.

This is why people find him so odious, he'll pick up a paper, see what's in the news and make it a story that suits the narrative he wants to play up. He now sells books, has a "news" channel with "true" news which he mostly makes up that all sells the vision he wants to sell.

You don't have to be poor to champion the poor or have to practice anything you preach, it's just what he preaches is nonsense. So many famous people manipulate causes to sell themselves and what I see of Brand is the same, he's not a Bill Gates giving his time and money away to real causes. He's another Bono, gets infront of causes yet makes money off it while trying to seem like the good guy.

I just see it as a shame that a brilliantly produced bit of cinematography that encapsulates the greatness of human equality and emotion, has been put together purely to sell more stuff at Christmas. It's brilliantly made, it's a deep and great subject. Just using it as a marketing tool is kinda sad imo.

Totally agree...RB is a comedian...He uses his celeb status to get people talking...Thats about it.

Good luck to him.

I'm sick of seeing stuff like this at christmas...These adverts make my skin crawl...You know society is in trouble when a John Lewis ad and a cuddly penguin becomes a cultural event.

A vision of equality..Democracy and fighting for your rights?

Challanging the status quo and political and financial elite?

Whats wrong with that? He wrote a book called Revolution and donated the proceeds to charity...whats wrong with that?

You have zero point to make....Your point can be argued that you are manipulating the view point of RB for your own negative agenda...

Capitalism vs socialism, left vs right, nice people vs naughty, muslim vs christian. Who really gives a ****. They are just different ways of doing life and you will probably support which ever system you were born in to anyway.

so much win.

btw its said, Germany wanted for us to join their world empire but we didn’t want to join anyone because we were the big dogs.. so WW1 was basically willy waving, the whole good vs evil thing was constructed in the end nothing has changed. people are still nobs to each other.

I think many people on here are simply hating because of some subjective feelings towards him, for whatever reason.

He's using his status as a platform to help other people get noticed and create discussion on topics that seem to get pushed back or brushed off.

If you dislike him, then fair enough. But I don't see any reason to think he's a **** because he's using his status to do good.

Russell Brand opinion?

I’m not asking if you find the old Russell Brand aka womaniser and comic funny, annoying or whatever, but he seems to be hell bent on spreading some sort of anti capitalistic agenda.

I'm not sure if what he is doing is commendable or just annoying.

See latest video.

Its just a ******* advert for christ sake.

This thread highlights my current beef with the media and the general population... I'm dubbing it 'second wave news'.

Since when did people find the views of celebrities and how they react to actual issues more important and engaging that the actual issues! It's the same thing that was recently pulled with Band Aid.
