Russell Brand.

I did say am I missing something in my op.

I will be stood corrected if he does.

He donated to the Hillsborough lot a couple years ago and if you look on http://www.russellbrand.com/store/ you will see that the net profit from sales go to various charities too.

Might not be a vast amount but that, plus time he has spent campaigning adds up.

I can't imagine any Brand fans would be older than 18ish as to think he's the answer to the countries ills shows a remarkable immaturity.

If he inspires some kids who aren't from private schools to start questioning things and looking into politics then that's a good thing. Whether his words hold substance isn't really the issue. It's the fact that he puts things into the public eye and makes us question things we might not otherwise that makes him good.

People should check out his YouTube channel and watch his responses to the media outlets that publicise him.

How could he inspire anybody the bloke's demented, all the years of being a junkie have obviously affected his tiny brain.

I had a look at his videos and they confirm my analysis, the bloke is a very dangerous individual who immature people follow like sheep.

Saying it doesn't matter if his words lack substance really says it all.

Really? I fail to see all three main political parties having solutions to anything at the moment and they talk a load of waffle too - they just fail to add any comedic value. So he's got one up on them at least.

Lol are you serious - a very dangerous individual - he's not a hate-preacher. You are coming off as bonkers as he is - at least he is getting rich out of it. A very dangerous individual indeed. Hahahaha

The difference is they have been elected he has admitted he's too scared to put himself up.

IF as in the post which is basically all I see from him, he profits from campaigning, then it's not campaigning, it's work for him. That is the problem, he jumps on every bandwagon, tries to sound eloquent but what he says is usually twaddle, he does lots of stunts and then tells you about his book, or the film he's making currently.

Al Sharpton does nothing but campaign, he wades into every freaking race issue in the US, he perpetuates racism and often makes situations worse, riling up people. His intention has never, ever been about making things better, he's a profit seeking turd of a human being.

I'm not saying Brand is as bad as Sharpton but there are many financial reasons that people get involved in causes. It's widespread cheap ass publicity for people who sell books and make movies.

He has no direction, no goal, he just goes around getting loud, getting in peoples faces and achieving nothing at all, it's his shtick, nothing more or less. He has cultivated a kind of hippy personality which means activism kind of suits his general personality and ultimately helps him sell books and make more money.

If he cared more about specific causes he one, wouldn't jump infront of every currently trending cause with the goal of massive exposure for himself by getting into arguments that take attention away. Genuine people who care about the causes more than the publicity usually chose a few key things and work hard for years without any care about the attention they get. I don't know for certain but he certainly fits the profile of a guy who cares about his profile more than any cause he works for, is loud with nothing genuinely useful to say and jumps around from one thing to the next following whatever the cause of the week is.

Brand is an obnoxious moron.... she shouts the shout just for publicity.

If he grew some balls and did indeed stand for election i would think differently, as it stands he is an annoying loudmouth who spews his ideas and then "has a go at" anyone who thinks differently. He is a bully and a showoff.

edit: Apparently the swear filter doesnt like the usual term :P

So we should only listen to people who put themselves forward should we. No other problems with the comparison and no demonstration of why he is such a very dangerous individual. I can see why you don't like him now - you see part of yourself in him and you don't like it.

He's a champion of hard drugs if that's not dangerous nothing is.

He can be funny sometimes and I think in certain areas he has a valid and sensible discourse eg drug policy. Sometimes he has no argument so tends to resort to extensive use of vocabulary to hide the fact.

I'll give him that - I don't necessarily fault him re:drugs, then again he has personal experience there. His rants against fox news are amusing too, though not exactly the hardest target to find fault with. A lot if the rest if it is just getting behind a few popular issues and getting a bit shouty.

Agreed.

How is that? I have no love for brand but I've never seen him as a champion of drugs. If anything quite the opposite.

For one he wants hard drugs decriminalised and two I have seen him interviewed where he said that his time on heroin was the finest time of his life.
