Russian airliner missing over Egypt

I seen a report of an estimated decent rate of 6000 feet / min, not sure how accurate or where they got this from. Surely if you lose a plane from radar you can't tell this info. Unless the were seeing it decend before it dissapeared

It's from FlightRadar24 - the last check in is 6000 ft below the penultimate one and the airspeed had dropped a lot too.

I think bomb or missile no other explanation, it came down far too fast. I think if total engine failure they fall at about 1,500 fpm.

When you go on a plane ever notice the thrust disappears about 30min before landing.
Idling the engine for decent.

So it fell out the sky 4 times faster than total engine failure.

ISIS claiming they shot it down now.

"The fighters of the Islamic State were able to down a Russian plane over Sinai province that was carrying over 220 Russian crusaders. They were all killed, thanks be to God," the statement circulated on Twitter said.

Hmm. Its hard to tell to be honest. I could very well be fake and they are just trying to make everyone think its their work. On the other hand it could very well be.

The video itself it's not clear, although im leaning towards foul play, these things generally don't just happen. Russian airline, in the middle east, who is bombarding Islamic state at the moment

Something smells awfully fishy

Why would you not try and communicate?

It's disappointing that you'd think I'd let my dislike of Russian foreign policy could my judgement on this tragic incident.

Well I don't know you, so you could well be a basement dwelling weirdo. All I know is that whenever the word 'Russia' pops up you're there to tell us all how primitive the country is.

You don't know me yet you feel able to make such a judgement on me? Welcome to GD - you'll fit in nicely here...

The BBC has the flight radar airspeed vs altitude. The altitude goes up very rapidly at the same time as the airspeed slowing, so wouldn't that show a stall?

A low air speed whilst gaining altitude would result in a stall which also could be recoverable if you correct it by pitching down or adjusting the angle of attack to point nose down Slightly to regain the air speed i think

Even if stalled the decent speed would create enough lift to stop it reaching 6000fpm.

If it was a bomb/missile then the explosion could have caused the ascent before the fall, If it had ripped through the aileron controls before rapid decent.

That thing fell apart in the sky full of fuel for some reason.

Also no mayday? so its happened fast very fast. :(

RIP to all those on-board and condolences to their families, hope they get answers as to what went wrong.

I have my own opinions on this but some may not like them so i won't post them.

Well I'm open to any suggestions or theories as long as they have at least some sense to them.
Personally no idea myself, but the rapid ascent first would suggest intervention of some kind to me rather than mechanical?

This thread is like ****ing in the wind. You just never know what direction it's going to take.

How about we all wait for the full report and then we will know what happened instead of trying to carry out a full crash investigation from a few news articles.

What we know so far:

It crashed
Everyone is dead.
