So, after living with this CPU for the last two weeks and being very happy with its sock settings, i read through this entire thread i decided to give mine a tweak and see how it performs.

Stock Cinebench R20 = 7055
With 0.102 undervolt I score 7313.
With memory tweaked (3600 cas 18 to 3600 cas 16) = 7397.

Whilst gaming and other multithreaded tasks my core speeds are as follows - CCX0 = 4.6/4.6/4.5/4.5/4.5/4.5 ccx = 4.4/4.4/4.4/4.3/4.3/4.3
Max temps whilst gaming with H105 AIO = 63c.

This is from an OEM 3900x so don't beleive they are lesser binned chips like some people claim.

Pretty much what I get. I just have a stock cooler at the mo. Can't be bothered to swap to an AIO now, I'd have to pull the board out.

What's your temps whilst running that 7313 Cinebench R20 run?

Thanks :)

I know you didnt ask me but I nail 7350-7400 for the first several runs until the system has heated nicely, then I'm 7320ish. I barely hit 70c, maybe 71-72c if the pc has been on all day.

Got sick of my 3900X being held back by my B350 motherboard, so went and bought an X570 board today, the Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero. Bit overkill, and I'll laugh if I don't see an increase from my 6900~ score on Cinebench but I'm quietly confident I will. I've never seen the CPU go over 3900MHz in Cinebench, and I'm having trouble with 8-Pack 3600MHz RAM too, timings won't budge at all despite RAM Calculator saying they should easily tighten a little.

Thanks, that's helpful, something to compare to with my Noctua NH-D15 when the CPU arrives :)

Testing just now at 4200MHz at 1.2v and getting about 72c with a NH-D15 with fans at max....scoring 7389

Just using the paste that came with it for now...got some grizzly liquid metal sitting here but never used before and it scares me a wee bit lol... :)

New to this...how long should the loop run for fair test of stability?

Finally built mine after having to RMA the lot, only for OCUK to not find any problem. So, after 2 power supplies, 2 cases, and some shouting, I finally ordered and tried a 3rd PSU - a Enigma G2 850w Modular PSU - fired up first time.
Christ, this thing is fast, even I/O is so much more responsive.
Tried Cinebench R20, 3900x stock clocks, Dark Rock Pro 4 cooler, Gigabyte Aorus Elite X570 board, Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB 3600MHZ. Score first time = 7358.
CPU hasn't gone past 66c, although I saw Cinebench was only pushing the CPU to around 4200Mhz max. Not going to overclock this, not yet anyway, need to get used to my first AMD system since the Athlon64.

Hi mate,

That's weird, your temps are the same as @lnoton
and he's using a stock cooler?

oh.....will have a read and see what others are getting....maybe the stock NH paste is not good....or i messed up lol.....extra fans will maybe help a bit :)
I'm using the stock Noctua paste as well, on my 3700X I was getting good temps, even better than my 3600X under water  I believe a lot of that is down to the voltage, my 3700X ran with less.

I won't get my 3900X until OCUK deliver it which is taking a little longer at the moment, but will be able to give some comparison then.

What case and fan setup do you have?

Tbh I think the stock cooler is pretty awesome. To the point of wondering why I would pay more to replace. I know why, if you can keep temps below 65 it'll keep its all core boost to 4150-4175 at stock clocks.

The fact that I will never need this is the reason I've kept with the cooler.

I game and perhaps have stuff in the background rarely. Maybe obs at a push.

I'm very impressed. I have a large case. X9. But with plenty of fans running at 60%.

The biggest reason for me is noise levels, the stock cooler is great at cooling (relatively speaking) but it keeps ramping up and down and is too noisy for me, the Noctua is so much quieter, only issue is RAM clearance for tall sticks.

I'd expect more with an all core at 4.2. Memory subtimings tight?

I have 8pack 3600 cl16 and can't get cl15 or 14, but tightened secondaries a lot. Cinebench doesn't care much, but it will up those numbers.

True. I have a fan curve which only ramps up at 65. But yeah, that is another reason to switch I guess.

I found that the 3900X flies through R20 and doesn’t give much of a indication of sustained temp. Try something like Blender for 30mins.
Agreed. But it isn't a workload I'd ever do.

This is the only PC I've not overclocked the cpu. Because basically you can't. And I've actually had to learn about secondaries to get a better boost.

As per sig...corsair 780T with just the stock fans running for now...more on the way :)

forgot to say that its 24.5c in my man cave...7x rx580 mining rig heats it up a lot...

temps climbing...78c... as at 4250MHz i had to bump up vcore a few notches to get it to run more than 10 loops....1.275 in bios but showing 1.25v in hwinfo but 1.29 in open hardware monitor...which one is the correct one?
Guessing open hw monitor.

Go easy..... i haven't done this for 9 years since i got the 2600K :)

Happy days :)
