Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

Mine arrived this morning after upgrading from an HTC desire
my eyes are not as good as they used to be so this bigger screen is right up my street
really liking what I am seeing though

a question
what is a samsung account
I have a widget wanting me to sign up to the account?? presumably its to download some kind of samsung apps

You can use the remote tracking and control if the phone gets stolen is one reason to sign up. Never bothered myself though.

My Orientation Sensor/Gyroscope has stopped working :(

It's about now I wish I hadn't bought it from Germany! Do you think I'd be better off sending it to Samsung UK?

So, yesterday it started working again!? I'm beginning to wonder if the solar storm was the issue :p

I'm still a little nervous it'll stop working again, plan on moving back to a ROM that's closer to stock in case that was causing the issue. It may also have been the cold and humidity I have at home; every morning the phone is like a fogged up window.

Rotation sensor seems a bit tempermental on mine - was working fine until I decided to calibrate it :| turning it off and back on again sometimes sorts it but I've got a feeling its easily disrupted by magnetic fields.

This screen is amazing compared to every other phone I have had
really like my wife's SG2 but this screen is a far more pleasurable experience - cannot ever see me going back to one of the smaller screens

the S pen is OK but cannot really see myself using it very much.. really like the way my apps from my other phone can be downloaded without having to pay out again
I was thinking I may have to pay twice for them

so on the whole I have got the wife jealous and my daughter wont put MY phone down LOL
very pleased with it - I got it on a 12 month contract so that if a Note 2 appears I can still get some good value out of it should I want to sell it somewhere down the line

I thought I wouldn't use the S Pen at all, but it is useful sometimes. I play Pool Rebel against my mate online a fair bit, and it is quite fiddly on the S2 and Nexus, but absolutely awesome on the Note using the S Pen.

Plus when I'm tutoring my cousin with his Maths it comes in handy, saves a lot of paper. Once you have had the phone for awhile you might just start finding some uses for it.

Been wanting to use the standard email app that came with the phone as I prefer it the most. But I had to change to hotmail within a day as I could figure out why when i read a message on the phone why it wouldnt update when I checked my emails online.

I've tried snycing after every step but still no use.

Any ideas?? :confused::confused:

Don't know about your problem, but have to tried setting up gmail to check your hotmail account for you then you would push notifications.

Yeah its a bit big but you get used to the size quite quickly and any other phone looks small and pathetic in contrast :D

Finding the gyro in mine is quite iffy doesn't seem to like cold weather or nearby sources of EMF too much.

EDIT: Seems the gyro hardware isn't the issue as per the post on XDA dialing *#0*# and selecting sensors shows the raw input data from the gyro is correctly updating so hopefully a software fix will sort it.

I've been doing a bit of testing today and the gyro fault is not hardware level 2 sets of low level diagnostics show correct input data from the hardware sensor - so getting a replacement phone probably won't fix it. The issue seems to be in the UI software level somewhere but why it becomes tempermental I don't know and weirdly it does seem heat sensitive - after getting back from walking home in the cold I couldn't get it working at all but once the room warmed up its working again fine (coincidence?).

My Desire is in for repair, and while I was dropping it off I had a play around with the Note. Very nice phone... I don't think the size will bother me, and the screen is beautiful.

I checked out contract prices last week, and found some fairly good deals (e.g. £25pm + £50 up front, 300mins/300txt/500Mb, with T-mobile). I shouldn't have hesitated, because now I can't seem to find anything under £31pm, unless you pay ~£200 for the phone...

I guess these things are cyclical, and if I wait then the better deals will emerge again?

I'm tempted to buy this on Wednesday when my wages are in. €550 from Amazon.de in white.
I have the itch. Will I get a full day out of it?

Another quick question, I pay O2 for insurance for my desire, can I change the insurance to cover the note?
