Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

I just took a sneak peek at the stock charge internally at Orange, this is the notes entry:

Samsung Galaxy Note - OOS - 130 due in today
N.B. Stock will usually be available 2-5 days after arriving in the distribution centre. Please quote "up to one week" for stock to be available in Merlin

We also just got a new gigantic dist centre to speed this all up so I'd call every day (try the 10am lull I'd suggest) for the next few. We don't sell a lot of these so you'll probably be able to get one.

Thanks for the reply Myshra :-)

I was told '130 due in today' on Wednesday last week and again on Saturday. Do you think this is the same 130 which don't seem to be coming in as expected? I'll keep on trying - just a bit frustrating when a new shiny thing is just out of reach!!

Cheers

Just orderd one in white should be with me tommorw what are some good apps to get moving from iphone 4s

3g watchdog - keep track of your data usage
Boat browser - better than the stock browser
BSplayer - Good video player with gesture controls
Dolphin browser - another alternative browser, really well laid out with some cool features. I tend to use Boat though as it's faster
ES file explorer - the best android file explorer, as well as viewing your sd card you can access your LAN and ftp.
GPS status - show off the notes super fast GPS
Poweramp - THE best music player for android
Quickpic - The stock android gallery is terrible, this is much better
TuneIn radio - online radio

Got one today.

Gone from o2 Exec > Orange San Francisco > Galaxy Note

Wish they made it with a qwerty keyboard, besides that it is good stuff.

However, comparing phones today with the o2 Exec, not much progress if at all. Stylus on o2 Exec much more usable and precise, super keyboard, could do real work on Microsoft Word. I blame the Iphone for dumbing people's expectations down. Surely a proper stylus/keyboard and os optimised for that is better than a clunky finger operating system?

I got one on the £21.50 a month free phone contract with O2 that was on HUKD at the weekend. Immediately dropped the tariff to £15.50 by removing the data package (I have a work sim). It's an awesome phone and when it comes to me getting a new one in a couple of years if there are no similar sized ones I will be very disappointed.

Saw 3-4 people with these today while walking through town - which for something that is marked as a relatively niche phone quite a high number.

Seems to be generally well recieved - pretty much everyone whos used mine hasn't wanted to go back to their old phone despite the size hah.

We really need ICS now as the only negative is the slightly laggy OS.

Ah did you buy from .de store? seems the LA<n> firmwares are the ones sent to German versions of the phone.

I'm using KK5 rooted and seems to be perfect for everything but wifi and some slight issues with the gyro (don't think any firmware currently has the gyro fixes).

Samsung have just tweeted that ICS will be rolling out on the Note and SG2 from March 1 dependant on which carrier you are with
woo hoo

hmm i very much doubt the carriers will get their ass in gear that fast, and judging by the latest released beta for the SGS2 there is still a bit of fixing to do.

Mine came on KK5 and I've not bothered to update it yet, but comparing it to the S2 it doesn't feel as smooth when scrolling through menus so there is small room for improvement. I'm just waiting for ICS. :)

Got my Note originally on a 24 month O2 contract which I've just cancelled so I'll pay of the remainder of the contract next month, which will be around £200, costing me in total ~£450.

I think Googles whole approach with releasing the Honeycomb 3.0 OS was a mistake - creating a whole tablet-only OS version has created an ****** massive gap between gingerbread and ICS - us on our phones have almost been punished by skipping a whole generation!

I think they should've rolled out Honeycomb for both phones and tablets but with a different version for tablets (maybe 4.0.x for phones and 4.1.x for tabs...)

Gingerbread just seems really dated now :(

The sooner they release ICS on everything (plausible) the better!

As an owner of both a Note and a Galaxy Nexus I'd disagree. I use my Note more and apart from the ICS eye candy there is very little difference apart from more apps working on Gingerbread!

I also own a Nexus, but thinking of buying a Note. Seeing as you have both, when do you use the Nexus?

If the somewhat offensive size doesn't bother you at all, I'd say the Note is better. However, the size is an issue for almost everyone. :p

ICS ultimately does the same thing as Gingerbread, it's mostly visual improvements.
