I think soon, having a remote handset for your phone is gonna be mandatory! (Yes, I know there are bluetooth headsets before anyone pipes up!

Got my new Note today (O2 deal with cashback, cancelled bolt on and early cancellation to cut out the VAT brings the TCO down to just £300)
Loving it, had a Streak before and man sized hands so the size isn't an issue. As an IT tech it makes a superb work phone - big battery, great for taking notes quickly and accurately, using remote desktop etc. I have a bluetooth headset for if I need to make an extended call. I'm even liking the stock Samsung skin and tweaks, which surprised me. It's rooted but i'll probably wait for a solid ICS release before trying custom ROMs.
Got a Sony Liveview coming soon (they're on offer for £15 if you look around) figured it's worth a play with at that price.

)Tbh i don't really use my phone for phone calls mostly just txts, and want one for internet movies and games. How much internet use do you get for 500mb in a month?
so what's a good plan for lots of data/internet and txts not too arsed about phone calls would probbaly never even use 30 minutes in a month let alone 300

You're in for quite a shock (in a good way)!
It's fine for general internet use, however, if you are doing any sort of heavy streaming like internet radio and especially internet video, it will chew through it like there's no tomorrow.

The best deals are any of the ones on Buymobilephones.net usually, but they will have more restrictive data limits.
I don't think Three sell the Note, they have totally unlimited data. As do T-Mobile, but they don't have it either it seems.
It's free credit for Samsung's own app store. It has movies, games and so forth.
interesting £120 credit on there sounds a bit too good to be true, is it because there's bugger all on there or just very limited to what you can spend it on.

I haven't used it much really, I'm sure it's better than nothing though.
It depends where you are, they are quite plentiful but they aren't everywhere.
I wouldn't worry about that, I haven't heard any complaints about it.

All that stuff works very well, it can play HD files (and just about any file type) natively without any trouble at all. Drag, drop and watch.

Well it does seem ideal.
So having never owned a contract phone before, buy off that site they send me the phone + sim, take £36 pound a month from me and no hidden costs or things I'm missing?
also it says 3 months free insurance after that's up guessing it's a very good idea on getting more, how much does that typically cost?
So just to be clear i can watch youtube and lets say "those" sites that stream Tv shows in flash etc every day of the month while out and about and wont run out of internet?

That's something that will run unless you cancel it, so you can leave it or get a cheaper option. It shouldn't be too expensive but it varies.

Guess the next questions are, spec me a good solid case (very solid, I'm clumsy) and an excellent screen protector (I'll be taking phone to work and my pockets end up full of crap including metal swarf and filings)

I browse OcUK quite a bit on my note (not that the phone itself makes any odds in regard to data use) and my monthly browsing for OcUK is under 30MB.
Avoiding music and video streaming you'll be hard pressed to exceed 120-200MB a month... I wiped out half my allowance in one go tho the other day forgetting I was on HSDPA and using the desktop version of iplayer to watch a tv show. My average usage even with moderate spotify useage and the odd youtube clip is just under 250MB a month.
The Note itself tho it feels a little flimsy (especially the battery cover) is actually very tough but a case wouldn't go amiss. Also its brilliant for watching movies just big enough screen/res that your not squinting while not being too big that it sacrifices portability.

I'm not sure about screen protectors but anything by Martin Fields should be good, they have excellent reviews.
